In spite of the intrusion of my non-quilting life, there's been some good progress on Frolic.
Frolic, 2019 Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt |
All the setting triangles are completed and I'm back to making the full sized blocks. Saturday night My Guy was checking up on me in the sewing room and asked who was getting Frolic. I was thinking it might be donated to the auction for the local cat shelter the Scientist in Training and her roommate volunteer time at when they are home. My Guy said no, it was too nice a quilt to donate. I asked him if he wanted it for his TV watching chair. The reply was a definite affirmative. So Frolic has a home once it's done.
The other thing that got done this weekend was measuring how much was left of the butterfly print used in Mosaic Mystery. There's a bit over a yard left. After playing around in EQ8, here's the plan border plan.
Mosaic Mystery Quilt from Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs |
I didn't scan in my fabrics this time, I just went with what was in EQ that had the same color and tone. Two narrow borders of the dark purple framing the butterfly print should work well. There is just enough of that print to make this work.
That's it for visible progress in the sewing room. Linking up with Monday Making and Design Wall Monday.

Your Frolic quilt is looking fantastic! I love the drama with the dark background.
don't you just love it when a family member tells you a quilt is too nice to donate - it means they love your creation and want it to stay in the family. I would make a simple quilt to donate - family always gets the quilts that take a bit of time to make
I hope your day at home helps you recover. Better to stay home than spread the germs. I really like your Frolic. It will be a great addition to your home. Mosaic Mystery will be wonderful with your border ideas. Take care of yourself.
I hope you are feeling heaps better for a rest.
Isn't it wonderful when someone in the family loves what you are working on and wants it! Frolic looks like a lot of hard work but beautiful because of it.

Feel better, Kate!! The good news is that you were able to make some progress on your Frolic quilt. Better yet, you found it a home (right at home!) :o))
Frolic is looking gorgeous--I agree with your Guy getting it for his TV chair :)
Hope you feel better soon--spending time with fabric and thread is as good a cure as any!
How nice that he wants Frolic!! Hoping all are back to normal health in your household!
Your frolic is just so pretty! Love the colors you are using!
I'm sorry you're not feeling well Kate - I hope you are better soon! I have my Mosaic Mystery top together but don't have the borders on yet either. I like the way you are framing your print with the dark purple. It's going to look great!
That will be a good choice on your border. I don't design in EQ. I use Quiltpro which is far less popular, but it works for me. I don't scan in my fabrics either. Color matching is close enough.
It is a pretty neat story hearing that your sweetheart wanted Frolic.
Your Frolic is the prettiest and most striking one that I have seen! So much prettier that BH's! Hope you feel better soon!
It's always great to get a personal request from the Guy for a particular quilt, isn't it? You'll get to enjoy your Frolic for years to come! Hope you feel better soon.
Sorry you weren't feeling well; hope you are feeling better now. Love Frolic so far, and glad to know it has a home once it's done :)
Your border plan looks good for your mosaic mystery. It's a good thing you got so much done before you got sick.
Great progress on Frolic, and so nice to hear that your husband has claimed it! Love the borders for the mystery.
