Just Hand Stitching

It's been a couple of weeks since I've posted a Monday post on just stitching stuff.  The eclipse trip, along with prep and recover from knee surgery has limited my sewing room time.  So my stitching efforts have been focused on my long term travel project.  My goal was one full thread of stitching time each day while we were on the road. The first top wing of the butterfly was finished off last week.

Since I had to go off my anti-inflammatory before surgery, it was really uncomfortable to manage the stairs, so I kept to the hand stitching all of last week.  The hoop got moved to allow for stitching on the bottom half of the wing.

So the plan for today is to finish off this half of the butterfly.  I'm hoping to cut back on the pain medication today so that I'm not sleeping so much (I slept 6 hours during the day yesterday).  We'll have to see how that works out.

Linking up with Design Wall Monday, Patchwork & Quilts, plus Slow Stitching Sunday.

Knee surgery definitely isn't for wimps. It's a much harder recovery than hip replacement. Hopefully this week will be your turning point for less pain and more mobility.

yes I know what you mean about the pain medication - you want it but want to get rid of it fast before there are any problems. Hope there is some good stuff on tv or reading to pass the time also while you recover.

Your butterflies are stitched with some pretty thread colors, Kate! Hope the pain is getting more manageable today, too. Sending good thoughts!

How lovely to stitch your butterfly while travelling in the car. Those coloured threads are so pretty together. Such a lot of pain with knee surgery. Hopefully the pain lessens with each new day. Take care, Kate.

Have you had your surgery? Somehow I missed that. I backed up a few posts, but didn’t see anything about it. Either way, I’m sorry you’re having to endure so much pain. It’s wearing to live with pain. Your butterfly looks beautiful. I love cross-stitching.

Your embroidered butterfly is very pretty, beautiful colors for a shiny bug!
I hope that you are feeling a little better today, soon it will be history. Hugs
Thank you for sharing!

Best of luck Kate. Hopefully the pain will be managed. Enjoy the hand-stitching. At least you can do that! Take care.

You are making great progress on your butterfly. Are you using a multi-colored thread? What ever it is is giving the butterfly a beautiful look. Sorry you are sleeping a way the day -- just hope you are able to sleep through the night too.

I just adore this butterfly project. A great project to work on as you are healing. So sorry to hear that the medication is making you sleepy. Hopefully, each day is getting better. You are in my prayers. Hugs.
