Holiday Stitching Stuff

It's been a busy couple of weeks on a number of fronts.  We finally celebrated Christmas with my part of the family yesterday.  It was a lot of fun, but a bit tiring.  We've got three days to rest up and recover before we have to be back at work.  I've managed at least an hour of stitching most days the last couple of weeks, but I haven't managed a nothing but stitching day yet. Hopefully I can work one in before vacation ends.

I didn't post last week, so this week's post reflects two weeks of progress. Twinkle Stars has two pieced borders added.

I ended up completely redoing the left side border in order to get the color flow working the way I wanted it too.  The last two borders are stitched together, hopefully those will get added sometime today.

There's been some progress on Frolic clue 4 and 5.

But I've only got a picture of clue 4.

There was also some good progress on mystery quilt number two, Mosaic Mystery.

I finally finished the December clue, just in time for the January clue that comes out on Thursday.

There was also a lot of progress on the Winter Quilt Along Mystery.

Hour three and hour four are all done; hour five is under construction.

Lastly, the sashing is finished for the 2019 Christmas Mystery quilt.

I'm hoping to get at least one border on today.  We'll see if that actually happens or not.

So even with the holidays and an emergency hospital stay for My Guy, there's been good progress on a few projects. One thing I've realized the last couple of weeks is that though I'm making good progress on a number of fronts, working on so many projects at once is slowing down getting projects to the finish line.  So if my goal for 2020 is finishes, I need to rethink my work processes.  Any suggestions?

Linking up with Monday Making and Design Wall Monday.  As well as linking up with Meadow Mist Designs for the December Mosaic Mystery Clue linky party.  Wishing every one a very Happy New Year!

Finishes are super but sometimes variety keeps us engaged. But maybe what you need to do is decide which quilt(s) you want to get done. Then pick a goal weekly or monthly of what needs to be done. Such as finish two borders on Twinkle Stars. Maybe the goal is monthly so you can break it down by weeks. Then keep something else as your leader ender. I used to have goals listed but life got in the way. I'll probably decide how I'm going to do goals in 2020 as I KNOW I get distracted easily. Goals that are written and available to check help me to stick with what I want to get done instead of jumping all over the place! Good luck with your plans.

I always enjoy seeing what you're working on, Kate! Just like Bonnie was saying in her comment, I also like the variety of multiple projects to work on, depending on what interests me on a certain day. I do understand the feeling of wanting to get some projects finished, so I think I'm going to assign myself different WiPss for different months this year and see how that works. Happy New Year!

From where I sit, Kate, that looks like a good amount of progress over the Holidays!!

Pick the one project closest to completion and complete it. I also find I need variety to stay sane.

You get as much done in 15 minutes as I get done in an hour, so your hour here and there is worth a lot more too. I love this year's Christmas mystery quilt as much as last year's. Makes me want to reconsider my goals, but I am going to stick with them for now. lol

Wow, lots of great progress! Glad you’ve been able to find some good sewing time even if not a full day. My only suggestion for you is to limit the number of projects you work on at one time - maybe to 2 - and focus just on them until you get to a finish. To avoid being bogged down by wips/ufos, you could work on one “old” project and one new one at the same time?

You’ve accomplished a lot over the holidays. I love the mystery quilt. Very cute.

You are certainly the mistress of mystery! I like the QOV quilt version - I'm about ready to start the bottom half of the quilt, so I still have a distance to go. The Christmas one is cute, too.
