It was a quiet week. I'm a bit sad the week is over, one of my long time work buddies who retired when I did, is moving to Rhode Island. His family is there and his kids work in the North East. The going away party was Friday night. He was part of our weekly discussion group and was always fun to talk with. He'll be missed.
The sewing machine, rotary cutter and the iron all had good workouts this week. It shows in the metrics for the week.
- 15 minute days/week = 7/7 days
- 15 minute days/May = 31/31 days
- 15 minute days/2024 = 153/153 days
- Success rate = 100%
I did sew on Saturday, but it seems silly to list the days for June when there's only been one so far. This far into the year and I'm still at 100%? That's a first. It's been really motivating to try to maintain the 100%. We'll see how it goes this month.
I did work on processing scraps this week, but it's hard to tell there's been any progres on that front, so no photos of the progress with scrap bag #1. It's easier to see the progress in the to be pressed bin.
The top three pieces were pressed. Which ended up being almost 10 yards of fabric. The bin is just at the half full mark, it was full at the end of April.

always sad one someone moves a long distance and you doubt you will see them again.
I have a longtime teaching partner who recently moved away, too. I will definitely miss her, so I understand how you're feeling! Congratulations on meeting your goal to sew everyday - that's great! When you pull pieces out of your to-be-pressed bin, where do you put them so that they don't get wrinkled up again?
Having taught on 9 different staffs in my 34 year career, I know what it means to lose someone you connected with and was a good addition to the staff.
Meanwhile, sorting scraps seems to an ongoing activity here and I've only been quilting 10 years now. Can't imagine what I'd have if I'd been doing this decades!!Happy Sunday, Kate!

Well done with your metrics, 100% is wonderful! I am the one who moved, and being far away from friends is not fun. Fortunately there are plenty of ways to see each other from a distance. I hope you will keep in touch. Have a great week, and thank you for the sewing motivation!

I'm slowly making my way thru my large fabric pieces stash to have them all folded to the same footprint size. It's slow going between projects. Happy June! Great job on the ironing. I've been ironing fabric like crazy too. All of the new fabs have been ironed. Some of the bigger pieces have been sewn together to make bigger backings. Only one left to sew. I don't think I did any real decluttering. Although I've been making a big effort to actually put my tools away after each use. Now if I could put the fabric bits and pieces away it would help! Sorry to hear about your coworker moving away. I have a lot of friends in my 55+ neighborhood who left their longtime homes to live where the grown kids are living. I suppose I would have moved to be nearer my kids but they basically stayed near us (within an hour or so.) We moved away for a couple of years but didn't really like where we chose. It's good to stay put for a while.

I am sorry. Loss of work friends is real and it is hard to get together afterwards. Success Rate of 100%!!! Wow! Every current project of mine is meant for a catalog/magazine so I cannot show anything. Sigh! But I will have a new finish on Wednesday :-) Stay cool!
