Magnolia Mystery by Cheryl Brickey of Meadow Mist Designs |
The Magnolia Mystery quilt from the 2017 mystery program at Meadow Mist Designs is finally all finished. It's definitely a very bright quilt, but I like it. Purple and yellow is one of my favorite color combinations. Though the purple is really closer to red-violet than it is a true purple. Thankfully you can see the true color in these photos. The violet always photographed as almost black when this project was on the design wall.
The background fabric is a Connecting Threads sale acquisition that's been in the stash for a few years. There was enough of it to back the quilt as well.
The yellow flowers in the backing reminded me of all the bright yellow wild flowers we have in Oklahoma in the summer, hence the slight change in quilt name on the label.
Other than the background, the rest of the fabrics in this project are left over from other projects. So the green ended up as the binding because there wasn't enough left of any of the the other fabrics.
My Magnolia Mystery quilt is lap sized. I love the bright colors and that floral print background (see that violet photographed as black in this image). Summer Magnolias is finish number three for 2018. This project wasn't on the UFO list, as it wasn't a year old yet, so my UFO numbers stay unchanged. That's OK, it's always nice to keep a project off the UFO list. It is on my list for the third quarter of the 2018 Finish Along, so I'll be linking up there come October. For now, I'm linking up with the usual Monday linky parties:

Congrats on a beautiful finish! I love that floral print as your background, and the other colors are great together.
Beautiful! It is so cheery and bright, great colors!!
Using a floral as the background in a mystery was a very brave move, and it worked gloriously!
Congrats on another finish Kate! It's a very pretty quilt; that floral fabric is so lovely. I love all the different labels you make for your quilts. Thanks for linking to MCM!
Huzzah! Good job on another beautiful finish.
The floral back is perfect....and it's a great finish. ENJOY!PS I love your labels too....is there a tutorial on your blog? If not...you should write on for us non-labelers....I know! GASP! :)
It turned out beautifully, Kate. I love the fabric you chose for the backing and borders. It’s a perfect complement to the quilt blocks. Nice work and a great finish.
Gorgeous finish! I love the first photo which shows off the brillance of this quilt.
Love the florals. Congratulations on a lovely finish!!!
Congratulations on the finish, Kate! So pretty! My Magnolia is still waiting in the UFO stack, but soon it will be done! Love the colors in your quilt!
I love the floral print fabric. The purple, green and yellow pop right out. Lovely. Congrats on the finish.

Beautiful! Congratulations on your finish.
Bright and cheerful and finished—that’s a good thing! Enjoy.
Well done. It's beautiful!!!
It is beautiful! Love that background/ backing fabric.
Congratulations, Kate! What a lovely finish! I'm so glad to know this is your favorite color combo, so it will be extra special to cuddle under it when the weather cools down. And it will be such a wonderful reminder of summer :)
Kate it is lovely! Wow, that's a beautiful CT fabric, and wonderful that you had enough of it to back the quilt as well as use it for background! I also like the green addition - this should be a 'Hello Spring' quilt come March 2019! :-)
Congratulations on another finish! It turned out well. I like purple, yellow, and green more and more. I don't know now why I never liked yellow when I was younger. I love that fabric continued on the back.
Making a quilt from start to finish without having it go onto the UFO list is always fun. Congrats on a beautiful finish!
Congratulations on the finish! It's very pretty!
I like the pop of colours on the floral background. A very lovely quilt, Kate! I know you will enjoy cuddling under it. Love your bookshelves, btw :)

I love this so much! I've always liked the floral background print and the solids look great with it. Congrats on a lovely finish, and on keeping it off the UFO list!
This is so beautiful! I agree with the purple and yellow, an excellent combination.
It's a sweet, Summer quilt, Kate. Mystery quilts are always a guessing game, and you lucked out on getting your colors spot on. Enjoy!
Great finish and it is fun to see the true color of the purple!
