Rainbow Scrap Challenge - What Color is Magenta?

Hope everyone in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday.  Ours was fun, though the house we rented this year was a lot smaller than the one we rented last year.  Cooking was a challenge, but that's part of the fun.  How My Guy's mother got dinner on the table for 30 plus people out of her little kitchen is pretty amazing now that we've had a go at it.

I got in a lot of machine time early in the week, but the later part of the week was reserved for Thanksgiving prep and family time.  Even so, I got a decent start on the last of the fan blocks.

Some of the lighter fabrics tended towards pink.  I wasn't sure of the one of the far right, is that magenta or pink.  Maybe it doesn't matter as long as I didn't use pink anywhere else?  We'll see how they look when I get all 16 of them done.  There's another 3 fan blocks in various stages of construction over at the sewing machine.

I've also made some progress on the sawtooth stars that will be used in the border for the Inverted Star Blocks.

I didn't realize how limited the tonal range was for the orange fabrics that made it into these blocks. They won't be right next to each other, but spread across the borders, so maybe it won't be so noticeable then.  One more orange block is in the works and several of the magenta are also in various stages of assembly.  The plan is to make 5 of each color initially, then figure out which colors will have a 6th block.   I really like the offset from block to block, its going to be a fun border.  (I say that now, pieced borders have never been a strength, hopefully these will go together well).

Linking up with Soscrappy for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and on Sunday with Oh Scrap.

I think the "pink" in the block goes really well with the magenta, so it must be magenta. ;) Can't wait to see the full border for Inverted Stars!

Pieced borders aren't a strength of mine either. I tend to think in terms of... I could be making a whole 'nother quilt! It is going to be cute, though.

Glad your Thanksgiving went well—we’ve fed 29 out of our little kitchen but a light year of only 11 this year. Pretty blocks! I hope to get some sewing today.

I love those offset blocks - that may be the border I use for one of my quilts. Since you have magenta in all the blocks, they mask the slightly pinker ones.

If you hadn't mentioned that some of the pieces leaned toward pink, I wouldn't have even noticed. My brain registered purples and violets. It looks great! What a great border that is going to make! I love that idea!

Magenta is a color like Aqua - it's how you interpret it and what you set it next too. Whether pieced or plain - I hate borders.

Ooh I'm liking that orange with the purple! And those magenta fan blocks--love!

Whatever color they are they look wonderful to me. I thought the far right was light purple on the two sides.

I'm not good at borders either but I like what you have going on with those Sawtooth Stars.

I like the combination of those colors. They look great together.

Some colors are really a problem. But that block looks lavender being next to the strong purple center print. To me magenta has to be BRIGHT. I keep shopping for the real thing. I agree with Joy, pieced borders are almost another quilt. But the amount of white and the offset really make, that a fun way to go. Alas, orange becomes rust. Red is the worst. But you're doing a great job!

Your fan blocks look great! I think of magenta as a pinky purply pink, so what you have seems just right :)

Okay, now you've hit on my pet peeve. Magenta is kind of like teal. What color is it? Your blocks are looking great, and I don't care what name you give to the color.

I really like the different shades of purple. I bet it will give your quilt a sparkly effect. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!

Your fan blocks look beautiful and will be great with the rest of your blocks. The sawtooth stars will make a great border, especially with the staggered setting.

Hum, variety is the spice of life! The pink may be more pink than magenta but it looks fine with the other blocks you're showing. Enjoy your quilting time.

I don't like making pieced borders either, but they are usually worth the effort. Your magentas look great!
