Stitching Stuff: Week 34 of 2020

This week went really fast.  Just one more week left in August. Time seems to accelerate once we get to this point in the year. One minute its Labor Day, the next its Thanksgiving. There is lots of stitching stuff I'm hoping to get done before we get to that point in the year.  I definitely need to do a better job of working in my 15 minutes each day.

I've been a bit lax on that in August, so I need to up my game a bit.

  • 15 minute days/week = 6/7 days
  • 15 minute days/August = 19/22 days
  • 15 minute days/2020 = 207/235 days
  • Success rate = 88.09%
I've been averaging 6 days a week of sewing room time this month.  That still beats my goal of stitching 85% of the time, but if I want to move at least 8 projects to finished quilts that's not going to be good enough.  Fifteen minutes doesn't seem like much, but missing 3 days adds up to 45 minutes over the course of a month. It's probably more than that as I usually spend at least 30 minutes in my sewing room once there. Hopefully I can do better in September.

How have you been doing at getting in at least 15 minutes of stitching time each day?

Your numbers look very good to me, and I know that you have been doing well at finishing projects this year!

with not working it doesn't take me long to get 15 minutes of stitching every day - usually more like an hour and sometimes a lot, lot more

It is crazy how close to September we are! I really enjoyed my week off and had lots of good stitching, quilting, piecing, and start-a-new-project time! I may have to plan for some more stay at home time off!

I missed a day but that was due to playing catchup once we got home. I can't believe it's only been a week since we got home, seems like a month ago!

There's something about August (at least this year) where work and other items have been taken off the back burner and heated up. It's best to keep the stress low and roll with it. You are doing terrific AND your #1 task was a HUGE DEAL with so much work leading up to the event. You will get back in the groove soon enough and make progress on the remaining quilts. You are doing great!

Time definitely goes so fast, especially in the last half of the year. I too am feeling the added push of getting more done (basement cleaning mostly) so I can check off something big off as finished. You get a lot accomplished, and with a busy job and a family, you have to be gentle with yourself.

I don't keep track of sewing room time, but I've had a great deal more of it this year since I am working from home. I finally conquered a difficult sewing task and now feel free to work on something for ME.

Time this year has been weirder than usual. Parts of the year have dragged others have gone super fast. I think everyone will breath a sigh of relief once the year is dead and buried.
