Stitching Stuff: Week 31 of 2020

August brought cooler temps and sunny skies after a week of cooler, but humid and rainy days.  The first and second week of August are usually when we see our hottest temperatures of the summer. That could still happen, the weather here changes pretty quickly.  But we'll enjoy the cooler temps while they last.  I probably should have done some yard clean up, but I really wanted a day of stitching time. So I spent the better part of Saturday in the sewing room to top off my weekly sewing time.  I'm getting back to a more normal routine so getting in some stitching time most evenings is easier. How are you doing at finding 15 minutes or so to stitch each day?

My week wasn't perfect.

15 minute days/week = 6/7 days
15 minute days/July = 29/31 days
15 minute days/2020 = 189/214 days
Success rate = 88.32%

I ended up working late on Friday to finish  up some stuff and the SIT came home wanting to celebrate the end of summer semester with a girls night out.  So I didn't make it to the sewing room.  That's OK, I'm sure I made up that time with all that I got done on Saturday.

Since it is a new month, it's also time for a stash report.

Fabric used in July = 2.25 yards
Fabric used YTD = 31.60 yards
More fabric in than out for 2020

A pretty anemic fabric usage month.  I've been sewing a lot, but I've been working on pieced borders for Frolic and Unity and I don't count those until they get sewn on.  August should be a really good month. I'm adding borders to two quilts and should be counting the backing for at least two quilts by the end of the month.  Linking up with Quiltpaintcreate for the regular stash report.

How you are doing at working in some stitching time each week?

It's been a hard year to find sewing motivation for everyone. Good luck with your August sewing plans!

So glad you got to celebrate with SIT, she probably needed a great night to shed the summer hysteria!

I'm doing good at stitching each week as I do not have a job out of the home like you do - it is harder to accomplish when you are working daily!

It's interesting...it seems people are swinging both ways...either not feeling their usual stitching enthusiasm or getting lots more stitching done than usual. Though I notice lately, more seem to be lagging. But having to fit it around a day job is challenging and I'm sure much more appreciated when you get to squeeze it in.

Hi,
I don't work, so have lots of time to stitch...I can see how working and family could slow the process down...have a great day!

Hello There!
I'm glad you had a Girl's Night Out! Fun! Isn't it fun to be an adult and make time for stitching and say, "Not today", to chores!

It was cooler here today, but overcast and a little bit of drizzle so I couldn't mow the lawn like I wanted, but I made good process inside the house.

I’m glad you’re getting into more of a routine again. Routines have been challenging to come by lately for us, but we’re reading to build some new ones too.

We've had more sunny days and it is the middle of winter. Its still cold and we have had a couple more sea mists come in in the afternoon but they are forecasting rain for the rest of the week. Don't know how much but the rain will be welcome. I've been purchasing thread lately more than fabric, though some nice linen arrived for cross stitch last week. Most of the cross stitch patterns I have use Weeks Dye Works thread which is incredibly hard to find online in Australia at the moment, so I have been searching for alternatives.

It cooled down here in the Midwest too and I love sleeping with the windows open! I got a UFO top loaded on the frame this week and finished 2 stitching projects, so feeling good about the end of July and start of August. I am looking forward to some time off this month so I can walk away from the computer and toward the sewing room!
