Mysteries and Masks

It's been a nice weekend. On the warmer end of the spectrum, but the sewing room was cool.  The Scientist in Training heads back to college today. School doesn't start till next Monday, but she's got some things to do before classes kick off.  She kept me company in the sewing room Sunday as I finished off the set of masks she requested.

Mask pattern from Laundry Basket Quilts

The red one is for the SIT, the newspaper print for one of her friends from the school paper and the rest are for her roommate.

The rest of my stitching time was split between the two latest Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilts.  The pieced borders for Frolic are finished.

Frolic, 2019 Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt

The pieced borders turned out nicely.  Just one narrow black border left to add, then Frolic will be a finished flimsy.  I might just get this one done before this year's mystery starts.

There was good progress on the other mystery, Unity.  I finished the last sawtooth star last night.

Unity, 2020 Bonnie Hunter Sew-In-Place Quilt Along

I need to sew the last few stars together and then that length of pieced border will be ready to stitch on. I'm almost finished with step 3, finally!

That's what I've been doing in the sewing room. Linking up with Monday Making.

Wow, you had a very productive weekend! Your pieced borders on Frolic look great. That was an excellent design choice on your part! Unity is coming along beautifully too!

I hope your daughter will school this year even though a bit different than usual! so many masks I try to do one here and there but actually haven't touched any now in over a week - but then I don't think I turned the machine on it a week!

Your BH mystery quilts are coming along wonderfully, Kate! Way to go, getting that Sawtooth Star border finished! What comes next for that one?

The quilts are just beautiful. Nice work. I’m going to make a couple more masks too. We like the style I’ve been making with the Creative Grids template, and I want to try threading a wire through the nose area. I’m afraid we’ll be wanting masks for a long time.

Love the colors on your unity quilt. Reminds me of sunflowers.

That looks like a lot of sewing progress to me! I hope that your daughter has a safe trip back to school today.

Lots of progress on your mystery quilts. It will be great if you can actually finish Frolic before December. (Hey, I'm sure you can do it...go! go! go!) I can be a great cheerleader for you.

You have done the pretties BH quilts I have ever seen - of course the secret is the color ways you selected! So beautiful!
I love your Storm at Sea header - another beauty

Yay for getting those mysteries closer to done!! I made 9 more masks, need to do about 6 more and then I don't want to see another mask! But that's what I said the last time. LOL

Nice border choice, Kate! You're getting ready to finish up Frolic and you're making some progress on Unity. Best of all? Masks for the SIT, her friend, and her roommate!!! Thanks for doing what you can to keep them safe.

I really like your circle of masks! I plan to try one in that pattern and checked out the link. I am sampling different ones to decide what I will like best for school. It is coming up quick.
