The power outage meant my nothing but sewing Sunday didn't happen till later. We went out to breakfast as we couldn't make coffee (both of us are worthless till we get coffee). Then we came home to work on cleaning up the yard/patio and the freezer/refrigerator. The power was off long enough for the ice in the freezer to melt, so that was a mess. I did get a couple of hours in the sewing room late in the afternoon.
The second border for Lupine and Laughter (Bonnie Hunter) got added. Just one final border and this will be a finished quilt top.
The other thing that slowed me down this week was learning a new to me sewing machine. My Bernina 153 is 25 years old. It still sews really well, but maybe it's time for it to be a back up machine? I purchased a Bernina 570 a while back, but had been dreading learning a new machine, so it stayed in the box for while. I finally pulled it out, set it up and am in the process of remembering that you have to use a button not a lever to raise and lower the pressor feet. I'll get there, eventually.

What beautiful work! I do hope you adjust to the new machine. I sew with all vintage machines, and even when I switch from one to another, I have to adjust to each old machine. It's worth it, however!
I'm so sorry to hear that your community went through such a hard storm, and I'm glad you and your husband (and home) are safe and relatively well off all things considered. I'll be thinking of everyone there as they continue to assess and start recovery.
Glad you got home safely and that the storm damage wasn't too severe. Losing power is a always scary ("how long?" is a gut feeling). Enjoy your new machine!

Oh no, on the bad windstorm and the long power outage! We would have to go out and get coffee, too. That's exciting to have the new sewing machine to play with. Hope it doesn't take too long to figure it all out. Lupine and Laughter is looking great!
I always hate seeing so many trees down and winds like that can be very scary. Sorry you will need to move up the date for your roof - hope the area is not too badly damaged where you will be a roof list for months waiting to get it done.

Oh my, that storm was a doozy. Sounds like things are getting back to normal, though. The weathee seems to be crazy everywhere. I hope you didn't lose too much food.

Hi Kate, that sounds like a very scary storm. I'm glad that the damage to your home was minimal. We've been having some crazy storms, heat and rain, but I'm thrilled that it all passed so that Saturday to Monday were perfect for spending quality time outside with Poppy (my son's dog). She's a real hunter so I had to stop feeding my neighbourhood critters on Friday so that they would stay away. Now that she's gone, the food is back and they're slowly making their way back. Scary storm, glad you made it home before it struck! Too bad about the trees. We have a few trees in our neighborhood, mostly large trunked, old crape myrtles. I'd hate to see them destroyed. Your new machine sounds interesting. Bernina seems to be the choice of many!
Oh no, scary, Kate. Glad you fared as well as you did through the storm. The power outage could be a serious thing in the heat particularly with freezer items and surviving the heat. No fun.
