A Bit of this and That

The weekends are the most normal part of the week.  Laundry and housework still have to get done.  And spending significant time in the sewing room is a big part of my normal.  It was a pretty ordinary weekend.  Though my sewing project for Saturday was out of the ordinary.

Since the CDC is now recommending we all wear face masks if we go grocery shopping, I pulled out bin of large scraps,  found a few feet of elastic in my old clothes making stash and made a few.  These are for my family and the Scientist in Training's roommate's family.  None of them are perfect, but they won't come apart.

I used Frolic as my leader and ender project while I was working on the masks.

Frolic, 2019 Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt

Two rows are assembled and there has been good progress on getting row three finished off. I'm really happy with how this one is coming together.

That's pretty much all that went on in my sewing room this weekend.  Linking up with Monday Making and the Monday Design Wall posts.

Good job with the face masks, and your Frolic blocks are looking great together!

You’ll all be very stylish in your face masks. I started to make them, and then Mike found some he’d used on some home improvement project. They’ll do just fine, but yours are so much prettier. Love your frolic colors. I’ve been sewing bonus triangles together one after another. Yesterday I was thinking they would have made a good leader and ender project. I’m too far into them now to change my mind. Besides, I have so many, I might not live long enough if I did them that way.

The only thing I accomplished this weekend were some face masks as well. It was smart to use Frolic as a leader and ender as you went!

I bet there are a lot of us who had facemasks on their "design wall" this weekend! Yours look good to me, as does your Frolic quilt progress!

I'm really liking your Frolic quilt - the colors are so energizing! Good job on the masks. I'll be making a few once the elastic I ordered comes. It should be here tomorrow.

Who would of ever thought that we would all be making face masks for our own use and for friends and family????
I made some for our kitchen staff here--and am going to make them some more--out of elastic so will use shoe laces this time--have a big package of them in white and black!!
have fun stitching this week--
stay safe Luv, di

Imperfect masks are better than NO masks, Kate! SEW glad to see that you were able to make some progress on your Frolic quilt, too.

Love your Frolic quilt so far! Great job on the masks. I made a few but they seem too small - which pattern did you use? I'll keep experimenting for now.

Frolic is looking fabulous. I do love your colors. Were you using 7" pieces of elastic? I like how you used the binding on the sides and incorporating the elastic. Much faster than making my own ties.

I agree that weekends are a little more normal, although my laundry has changed from work clothes to cozy clothes! I am on video usually a couple times a day, so nice tops and yoga pants or sweats is the new “uniform!” Great masks and progress on Frolic.
