One Monthly Goal for July

It's a nice Monday, I'm not heading into the office this morning.  Though the car does have to go in for service and I will have to log in the work computer to take care of a few weekly reports.  But the plan is to spend the afternoon stitching on July's One Monthly Goal.

Sticking with the quilt plan for 2018, July's project is Inverted Star.  I found the project box and put the blocks back up on the design wall yesterday.  Very bright and very colorful, my favorite kind of project.

Inverted Star is my Rainbow Scrap Challenge project from 2014.  The final quilt is supposed to look like this.

That setting needs 64 sawtooth star blocks.  When I decided on this setting last year, I started making 5 blocks as part of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge stitching each month.

As of yesterday, there are 33 stars completed.  About half of what I need to finish the quilt.  I'm almost three months behind on the star blocks.  The last two pink blocks are over at the sewing machine, I've just started cutting the teal blocks.  This month's color RSC color is red, I've not even pulled the fabric for those yet.

Now to decide what the actual goal is for the month.  I've not done very well with my OMG's this year, I've only finished 3 of the 6 for 2018.  It's been hard to gauge what's achievable in the time I have to stitch.  Assembling the 31 stars needed to finish the quilt isn't likely to happen this month, but maybe I can get the blocks ready to set.  The goal for this month is to get the narrow white frame and the colored frame around each block. So then the blocks will be ready to set together the next time this project comes around.

It's going to be stunning when it's finished Kate. All those little stars would be a pain (IMO) :) BUT, they look gorgeous in the setting you're using. Have fun sewing today! Sounds like a fun afternoon.

It’s going to be a fabulous quilt, and I love the mock-up you’ve done. I know what you mean about knowing what’s realistically achievable. I’ve been keeping up with my “monthlies” but I haven’t moved my other projects along at all, which is frustrating. Maybe in July...

Such a great quilt layout! I find the same challenge... to pick a goal that is actually achievable given my schedule.

I too have a problem with planning goals. Since it is camping season we are gone quite a bit of the month. I have carried my sewing machine with me, but then we get busy and nothing gets sewn so it is not worth carrying the extra weight.

I think your quilt will be wonderful when completed.

That is going to be a fabulous quilt! Love all the bright colors, the inverted stars, and the pretty setting. I wish you well with your goal, but any progress - whether you are short or exceed your goal, is good progress.

Great colors and a nice plan to combine the different star blocks. You are glutton for punishment with another project including narrow border strips!

Ooh, another rainbow quilt that would be fun to do, but I've got so many others WIPs that I don't dare start something else. But I may put it on the list for future RSCs. Enjoy your few days off. We don't have AC, so I'm sitting in front of a fan, not doing much but reading blog posts.
