Rainbow Scrap Challenge: Just a Spot of Yellow

June is turning out to be one of those months.  If you've come for the quilty stuff, skip down to the picture.  I'm pretty sure the next little bit is going to have the tone of a rant.

I've been AWOL from my home computer, so I'm way behind on returning emails and reading blogs.  Unfortunately that's not going to change for probably another week.  So my apologies on that, I miss seeing all the fun stuff everyone is doing, though at this point it would feel a bit like salt in the wound since I can't play right now.  Getting the old job wrapped up and working at the new has been a challenge.  I've been working some long hours since last weekend.  Work is pretty much the agenda for this weekend as well.  But I'm hopeful that by pushing hard this week, I'll at least not be bringing work home each evening the following week.

To top off this less than pleasant week was the pronouncement by the washer repair guy that it wasn't the door sensor, it's the control boards and the pump.  So after two weeks of trying to get the repair guy to order the part and then back over here, we're going to have to get a new washer.  Found that out yesterday, so this afternoon I'll take a break from all the report writing to go get a washer.  But the way things work here, the washer won't get delivered till next week, if we are lucky.  So that means a trip to the laundromat again this morning.

Sorry, I needed to vent.  Thank you for letting me.  Now on to just a little bit of fun stuff.

I did finish two sets of half fans this week.  That's about all the sewing time I've had.  I need 12 halves, so 8 more to make, then I need 6 full sized yellow blocks.  I believe someone last week was lamenting that finding dark and light yellow was a challenge.  It certainly is.  My yellow scrap stash is pretty big and I barely eeked out enough for all planned blocks.  I forgot to take a picture of my two piles of fabric.  It's just been that kind of week.

You can find more sunny yellows over at Soscrappy and at Oh Scrap on Sunday.

Whee, how frustrating. It seems like this is the month for break downs. My dishwasher went on the fritz; a friend's fridge was down for the count and she had to get a new one only to discover the hot water heater had a slow leak and will need to be replaced. But all said and done, good job on figuring out the half fans. Just Breathe!

We gotta vent sometimes. I had our septic tank cleaned out this week. Bleh. Hope you get to sew soon!

Oh my...the washer situation really is a bummer. You have my sympathy. I like your yellows. Looking good.

We are in much the same boat with our washer--ours died about 3 weeks ago, the service guy came out, said it was the pump and the timer, and he ordered the new parts. Yesterday a different repairman came to install those parts, but said the actual problem was the transmission. The washer is very old and it would cost almost $1000 to replace that part, so hubby went out to buy a new washer yesterday. Installation date is next Thursday, and hubby has become a regular at the local laundromat.
I hope things calm down for you soon, both at work and at home, and that you find some time for quilting.

Beautiful yellow fan blocks!

My sympathies to you about the washer. I'd give you mine if I could because I hate it (a 6-yr old front loader). Transitioning jobs is tough, but this too shall pass. Venting to your online friends is just fine - we all have to do it now and then! Your blocks are looking great, though!

Pretty blocks though--I thought I had alot of yellow--but discovered that it was all kinda of the same hue--so that was boring!!!
Sorry about the washer--
and all the extra work at the job 'work'--so I am hoping --like you said that by the end of this next week--it is all under control!!
enjoy the moments, di

Vent away! Hope that the job changes settle soon and you are back in business with a new washer. Never fun to spend money on those things, but hopefully you'll get one that you like bettter - and that works! Good luck getting things wrapped up so you can get back to more sewing.

I'm officially starting a new job on Monday but will still need to do about 60% of my old job until I hire someone to replace me, so I can relate to some work stress which absolutely can affect our creativity! I love your fan blocks. I looked on your blog for more info, and it looks like you designed these blocks. They look like they are paper pieced which no longer terrifies as much as it has in the past! Take care, Mary

My son was recently in a similar situation, starting a new position while the old one still hadn't been filled--AND three people went on vacation the week he started the new one. Hard couple of weeks. Hope your washer woes are solved by the new machine and that you get something back for the broken one! Your yellow blocks look good.

Oh no! You have had quite a month. Schedule some time to at least visit the sewing area and pet some fabric.... it will hopefully make you smile a bit this week. Bummer on the washer front... hope they can deliver quickly for you.

Hope your month brightens up soon! I'm with Deb - even petting fabric has soothing effects on a bad day. Good luck with the new washer, being without one is definitely no fun.

I feel your pain, hate when life gets in the way of doing the things we love, like quilting, but that time will come back around eventually, new roof for us

I hope you can get things sorted out soon and can get back to sewing. I hate frustrating weeks and need my sewing to keep me sane! Thanks for linking up with Oh Scrap!

If it isn't one thing it's another! Oh, bother!
But your blocks are always a viewing pleasure.

Yellow can be tricky. Too light and it is almost like background and too dark it is orange. But I like the fans you made. Sorry about your washer woes. I am sure the new one will make you forget the troubles with the old one and will also last a long time without any issues.
Sending hugs - hang in there.
