Week 49? Just three weeks left in the year. That doesn't seem right, but the calendar doesn't lie. Other than starting on Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusion mystery, time in the sewing room has been directed at finishing up the blocks for three Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects. Since 2015 is right around the corner, I've been giving some thought to next year's Rainbow Scrap Challenge project. One possibility is to make a whole quilt of the Twinkle Star block. Angela included that block in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge Sampler and I really liked it. After playing around with EQ, a couple of layouts have come to mind. Here's one.
Half square triangles were added to the star blocks to set up a secondary pattern. The other version has no HSTs and no sashing. I didn't get it all colored in so I'm not showing that version. The block would finish at 6", so I'm thinking of either a 8 x 9 with sashing or a 9 x 10 without sashing. So I'd need between 72 and 90 blocks. I'd like a few two colored blocks, so a few blocks each month may be that month's color plus last month's color. Or maybe I'll find some formula to pick the accent colors from the color wheel. At any rate the final quilt will probably look vastly different, but I'm pretty sure the Twinkle Star block is going to be my 2015 Rainbow Scrap Challenge project.
Obviously, I've been playing on the computer rather than stitching. Even so I do have a bit going out this week.
Used last week: 0.51 yards
Used in December: 0.30 yards
Used year to date: 32.72
My numbers don't include the fabric that's been used for the Grand Illusion mystery. I'll count that once the pieces get made into blocks. So hopefully, I'll see a big surge in the out numbers before the end of the year.
Linking up with Patchwork Times for the weekly stash report once she has it posted.

Your Twinkle Star block for the RSC is going to be beautiful. It looks like a difficult block to make.
Since 'crumbs' are now the only scraps sorted by colour in my new system, my blocks for 2015 will be crumb and black churn dash blocks! I haven't played along much this year but now that about half my scraps are organised, I can see where I'm going!
You are really a 'plan ahead girl' to be planning your RBC quilt already. I had good intentions for 2014, but fell off the wagon. I like your twinkle star quilt idea though. Good luck on the mystery quilt too.
I am using eq much more now that it is on the mac proper instead of having to fire up parallels. I might sign up for the classes on EQ next year (if I can fit them in). Love the block and the layout.
It's great to have a plan! This will make a beautiful quilt! Have a good week.
