Design Wall Monday - November 7th

I'm a bit groggy this morning.  Supposedly we are sleeping later, but we went to bed later too.  At least the aftershocks from Saturday's earthquake didn't keep us up or wake us up.  What a weird weekend.

We were actually home this weekend.  Kiddo had no games, no school stuff to go to.  She did get started on her science fair project, but other than having to spend a few minutes as one of her study subjects, she didn't need much from Mom.

Since we were home, I did manage to get some significant sewing done this weekend.  I finished all the blocks for the Geisha quilt.  I've put them up on the design wall to play with placement.

Hopefully I'll have time to play with the layout tonight and get started on the sashing.  I'm using the same dark blue in the sashing as was used in the center frame of the block.  The fabric in the large Geisha panel was the inspiration for this quilt.  I found it on line several years ago and just loved it.  It just took me a while to come up with the quilt to highlight it.

So that's my design wall this week.  Click over to Judy's Patchwork Times to post your design wall and check out what's been going up on other design walls.

Looks great! I love this quilt and the blue sashing will set it off nicely. We were home this weekend too. I haven't lived through an earthquake but I am sure it is weird. We are prepping for the first round of winter's weather. IT WILL be here , just hope it waits because our yard isn't finished!

It's so beautiful, Kate. Your inspiration piece is lovely too.

I wondered about you and the earthquake. Did your house keep shaking with each aftershock?

Good luck with the Science Fair project! What is Kiddo's project? We're gearing up for Son#1 & Son#2 to choose one. Happy Monday! ☺

OOOoooooh, Kate, that is an absolutely beautiful panel and your blocks accompany it perfectly. You must be so happy your plan came together so well!

Very nice quilting project. Some of the panels can be soooo nice. Your setting is really allowing your Gisha great focus. I think you could finish it without a dark sashing. Sandi

I am really liking your quilt top. It will be interesting to see it with the sashing.

Beautiful! And you got all of the blocks done despite of all the commotion with the earthquake! Sometimes I think things like that almost spur us on to activity; like your brain feels like suddenly it has to get certain things done because it 1) keeps you occupied and not thinking about what just happened and 2) like adrenaline that kicks in and says 'better get it done NOW because you don't know what the future brings!'

Earthquake? Yikes! The quilt is absolutely beautiful! The blocks do a great job of highlighting the panel and showing off each beautiful individual fabric.

Yay! Congratulations on getting the last of the blocks done. Watching with interest to see how you put it all together.
