Happy Halloween! We're ready for tonight's trick or treaters. My Guy and Kiddo spent last evening carving pumpkins. I think they've been watching too much of "Halloween Wars" on the Food Network. This year we will have a vampire and a mummy greating the trick or treaters tonight. (I was initially alarmed when My Guy popped into my sewing room and asked if we had a roll of gauze bandages anywhere in the house.)
This Halloween is a bit sad for me., Kiddo will not be out pounding the pavement in search of candy this year for the first time since she was 2. At 12, she could probably squeeze out one more year, but at 5' 2" Kiddo looks a lot older than she is. There is a costume party on her schedule tonight, so she's not terribly bummed.
Since it is Monday, it's time to show what's up on the design wall. I got the Flurry binding sewn yesterday, but that's laying on the cutting table, not up on the design wall. That's my only "new" project this week. I've made some progress on the Geisha blocks.
Only 11 more blocks to frame before I can start working on the sashing, so I'm more than half way there.
That's it for me this week. Check out more Halloween eye candy over at Judy's Patchwork Times.

What did you use for the binding in Flurry? Your Geisha blocks are GORGEOUS! I love the golden contrast. It offsets each one perfectly.
Our kids are not trick-or-treating this year either. Son#1 is 5'7" and looks like a man. Son#2 wasn't interested in going without his brother. LittleGirl would rather see a movie. So, that's what were doing tonight. Fingers-crossed that we don't get tricked for not leaving the porch light on! ☺
Halloween is not a big deal in Australia - we had only one knock at the door tonight; and that's one more than we had last year!
I hope Kiddo enjoys her costume party.
Oh, I know what you mean! I always loved taking my little one trick or treating and was sad when she got too old! I asked at dinner last night what my 13-year-old grandson was going to be. I got "the look" that says I'm too old and cool to go out for Halloween - LOLOL!
Love the geisha blocks! So sad that the Kiddo is "too old" for ToT. But at least you're in the heavy duty pumpkin carving age bracket!
Lovely quilt. I am a bit sad, we aren't going to be home for the first time to pass out candy and our son has a party to attend also. We haven't carved a pumpkin in a couple of years. Sigh, they grow up so fast....
You're whipping through this one Kate and it looks marvellous.
No trick or treating occurred here. Not one person knocked which is just as well since I didnt lay in supplies !
I love this quilt. I have being collecting Oriental fabrics for years, always hoping to do the circles. But I think I like this one even better. Could you let me know where I could find the pattern? Thank You.
Your geisha quilt is looking awesome. It's such a great design to showcase the beautiful Japanese prints.
For the first time in 12 years we had trick or treaters last night, and it's the first time ever I wasn't prepared for them, sigh! Lucky I found something in the pantry I could give them.
Your geisha quilt becomes lovelier each week! Happy Halloween! :)
What luscious fabrics. Such a pretty way to showcase them. I think this was the last year of trick-or-treating for our oldest. I think junior high is a good cut off age. Happy Halloween.
Very pretty blocks, Kate! Can't wait to see what the sashing does to change the layout.
We had a lot of ToT'ers last night but only one pumpkin--and not carved by me :) 5'2" is pretty tall for 12! I think I was about that tall too at 12 but grew almost 7 more inches before I stopped at age 16! My girls grew taller than all their friends at first, and then just STOPPED. DD Erica has been her same height of 5'5 1/2" since about 7th grade.
Great block -- is there a pattern available somewhere? Maybe in Marsha's block pages? This would be great to highlight all sorts of fabric.
The quilt is looking wonderful. I'll be interested to see the sashing as I think it looks great the way it is.
This quilt is too gorgeous. I love the gold in it.
