Staying on Track, Mostly

My quilt making strategy for 2026 was to focus on just a few projects  and make progress on those.  After the first full week of the new year, I can say that I've not done too badly with that approach.

Kate's Choice came out of the project box and row two is assembled.  I'm trying to quilt a couple of days a week.  Normally I go to the quilt shop for my "social sewing" on Tuesdays and Fridays.  That means I'm unthreading the machine anyway. So when I set the machine up after Late Night Sew, I switched to the walking foot and spent a couple of days using the quilt as you go assembly method. I'd have gotten farther with it, but I spent just about as much time with the seam reaper as I did at the machine.  Still row two is assembled, but I didn't get it sewn to row 1.  Hopefully that happens this week.

The hourglass blocks from the November clue for the Magnificent Mystery (Meadow Mist Designs) are all finished. But I'm not quite done with that clue as each hourglass needs another piece attached. About a fifth of the subunits are complete.  This part of the clue should go quickly.  The hope is to be all caught up on the clues before the reveal comes out next month.

So not bad for the first full week of the new year.  But here's where I'm probably going off track.  Meadow Mist Designs is sponsoring a Stash Busting Quilt Along.  Cheryl is one of my favorite quilt designers.  I've done 10 of her mystery quilt alongs and made two quilts from her last book.  I really was going to pass, but then found  one of the patterns that was picked for the quilt along is just sitting on my computer unused.  It uses fat quarters, of which I have quite a large collection. If I can find all the necessary fabric in the stash, I'm probably going to sew along.

That's how my week went.  Linking up with Patchwork & Quilts and Sew and Tell Monday.

Sounds like a good plan for you, well, for anyone for that matter! I just clicked on your link and read about the QAL. Which Meadow Mist pattern did you already have? I'm eyeing Scenic Waypoint, but not sure I need to take on anything else. But tempted.

Row 2 is so cute! I love the color combo you're using. I'm going to check out MMD QAL and see what's going on over there.

I hope that you can find a good rhythm with Kate's Choice - having the second row assembled looks like good progress to me!
