It's cold and raining, which means we've got ice all over everything. The ground was warm before it all started, so the roads never got really bad yesterday. Drama Teen was grateful there was no school. We still had to work, but they did let us leave a bit early so we could all get home before the sun went down and it got really cold. It was really fun getting all the ice off the car so we could drive home.
I'm a bit behind on emails, blog reading and stitching. So my apologies for just getting to last week's blog posts and email responses last night. My shoulder problems reappeared this week. Probably too much computer stuff between work and home. The only fix is to take the anti-inflammatory medicine and let the shoulder rest. So, I've limited my home computer time and my sewing room time. Still, I did manage to finish the first fan block for this year's Rainbow Scrap Challenge project.
I love how the black really makes those colors pop. This is a 7.5" block, one of the 3.5" blocks is in progress. I've got a start on cutting the scraps for the next large block, but there's not much to show at this point.
Linking up with Soscrappy for this week's scrappy block showcase.

The black really does make a nice contrast. Hope that the shoulder is feeling better soon. Hopefully the rest will do the trick.
Very striking, love the black.
I heard that the ice was more in your direction, hope your power stays on. Here it's just cold, grey and rainy. Bummer about your shoulder, hope it is better soon so you can get back to what you want to do.
Love the black with this block. That will be so pretty in all the colors.
Oh gorgeous block! Stay inside and stay safe. And you have comment reply amnesty - I just granted it - its real - ha ha!! Be good to you!
I'm glad you made it home despite the ice, and that it's not too terrible today. We have a thin sheen of ice on everything, with more due tonight.
I'm sorry about the shoulder pain; hopefully it gets better soon!
Oh, I love that. Very pretty. I'm a great fan of black in a quilt, and you're right that it makes the colors pop. So sorry to hear about your shoulder. I've had surgeries on both shoulders and so I know how painfully annoying that is. Does ice help? Hope it resolves itself soon.
Such lovely PURPLE fabrics paired with that black background. Wow!!
Great fan block--very striking with black in it-
got my purple bird block done this morning--
I could use more purple fabrics for the other block I want to make!!
enjoy the moments-di
I just read about all the bad ice hitting multiple states! We have a break in the rain and some sun today. Love your new block!
I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder. I hope it gets back to normal soon. It's cold here too, it makes the days feel so short.
That middle flower fabric is gorgeous, especially with the black. Shoulder problems are my nemesis also, have to take things real slow. I'm quilting the charm quilt, like wrestling an elephant. Hope I survive. You take it easy too.
Those are pretty purples, and I like the background fabric, too! Wishing you a pain-free weekend!
Take care! Lovely block!
Heal fast! You've got pretty purples to play with!
Love how the black makes the purple sparkle! I'm having repetitive motion issues this week myself. Hope you heal quickly...and stay warm!
Great purples! I too love how black just makes the colors pop. I'm having issues with my back and neck. I think I have whiplash from slipping and falling on ice in my driveway! This year is a lot of firsts for me weatherwise. I moved up here two years ago and now this year the weather has decided to show me just how cold it can get in the PNW! I'm learning...
It's a gorgeous block! Hope you stay safe with the icy weather.
Oh my goodness, the black with those lavenders is just gorgeous. We had a dusting of snow, but thankfully no ice. Stay safe.
The black electrifies the purple! What a lovely block that is!
Great block! Hope your shoulder feels better soon. :)
Those are pretty colors, and the black really does make them pop. I hope your shoulder feels better soon!
That is a really deep black. Looks really great with the purples. I think the quilt will be a knockout.
Black is the perfect contrast for the pretty purples.
That is beautiful, and the black really does make it pop. Sorry to hear about the shoulder issues. Bad enough when it interferes, but not the sewing!!! Healing thoughts...
What a NICE block! Love those purple prints.
