Just Stitching Stuff

It was a quiet, but busy weekend. Taxes are finished, with some time left to play in the sewing room.  Getting Grassy Creek cleaned up and pressed was the first priority.

The yellow and gray fabrics frayed a bit, so there were lots of loose threads to remove from the back.

Once that was done, I could go stitch a bit at the machine.

Morewood Mystery by Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs

The top and bottom two rows of the Morewood Mystery quilt are completely assembled, but I'm still working on stitching the blocks together in the middle two rows.  I am going to add simple strip borders, but haven't decided on the colors yet.

So far this is my favorite color combination.  I need to lay it out with the actual fabrics to see if I still like it.  My dark teal has white flowers dotted in here and there, so that might not work well.  We'll see.

That's it for my weekend stitching. You can check out more stitching stuff over at Monday Making and Design Wall Monday.

Congrats on finishing your clean-up mission in time to do a little bit of stitching, Kate!

We got our federal refund nine days after we filed. The state always takes longer. A finance columnist wrote in today's Chicago Tribune that he ALWAYS files ON PAPER ("for 50 years, no problem") and that the IRS has not processed his 2019 return (though he has the receipt that they got it) so that he cannot file his 2020 return. I'll take electronic filing! Meanwhile: if the dark teal has some white in it, I think that would be fine with the white background in the blocks. Have a good week.

Your Morewood Mystery is looking great, and HOORAY for taxes finished! Mine are at the accountant's and I haven't heard a peep yet, probably since I was slow getting my packet turned in this year.

I think those colors frame it well. Looks like another finish is coming soon.

I love the colors and that diagonal design of Morewood. I've seen a couple of different color combos online now, but I do love those jewel tones of yours.

Forward progress is wonderful. Don't you have a quilt at your quilters now? So this one is waiting in the wings for the time being. I like the bordering ideas. I often decide against a border. Part might be my desired to use my stash and it doesn't have anything useful or pure laziness. I'm done with the quilt and ready to move on. On the other hand, I appreciate having a border when I'm trimming it up. No lost points! Have a quilty week.

Looks like progress is being made there! I love the simple border thought on the mystery.

I also finally sat down to complete our taxes this weekend, too. Not fun, but it has to be done. I'm glad you got some stitching time in as well!

That little pile of strings makes me itch looking at it. Morewood Mystery is lovely. Those colors are very restful to the eyes.

I try to clean up the back of a quilt as I go, but I always have to do another clean up after the top is assembled. You are congratulated on getting your Grassy Creek completed and sent to the quilter. Thanks for linking with Desig Wall Mondays. Hugs, Judy
