Stitching Stuff: Week 18 of 2026

This hasn't been the easiest week.  My back was complaining a bit last week. Finally on Wednesday it reached a breaking point and I made a trip to urgent care. They couldn't do much for me other do some x-rays, give me a muscle relaxant and tell me I needed to see a doctor. Like most rural communities we have a shortage of primary care doctors. I finally found one that was on our insurance, but I can't get an appointment for a couple of weeks. The back is getting better, but the x-rays were concerning, so I still need to see a doctor.

Thankfully the back injury hasn't kept me from the sewing room.  I'm just a bit slower going up the stairs.  So it was another good week on that front.

  • 15 minute days/week = 7/7 days
  • 15 minute days/Apr = 29/30 days
  • 15 minute days/2026 = 121/122 days
  • Success rate = 99.18%

Not a bad week. One of my main activities this week was prepping Chilhowie for quilting. That meant standing and stretching a bit across my work table. My back felt much better after each prepping session. Who knew that some sewing works as well as physical therapy?

How was your stitching week?

I'm glad the stretching helped your back. Hopefully the doctor will prescribe some PT and your back will return to normal. Happy stitching!

I'm so sorry you are having your back issues again I do know how you are feeling. If you haven't seen an orthopedic doctor you might want to get an appointment with one - mine had told me that one day I will probably have to start injections as all that can be treated now is the pain my back will not take more surgery and I don't want to go through that again anyhow. I hope surgery will not be needed for you.

So sorry to hear that you're having back pain. I hope you're able to continue doing what you enjoy in spite of it. Sounds like taking standing 'breaks" at your work table will help. Congrats on your progress this week and YTD.

Glad that for the most part you were able to work even with back discomfort--and I do hope you can find someone to see who can actually know how to help you--glad you were able to get another quilt towards the finish line--hugs, di

I am so sorry to hear about your back injury, Kate. I do hope that you feel better soon. Hopefully, you will find out more answers in the next coming weeks. I can imagine that prepping Chilhowie was uncomfortable with all of the movement.Do take care. Woo Hoo on your stitching time though! Warm hugs

I'm so sorry you're dealing with that back pain again, Kate. How good to know that some of the quilting prep you're doing actually helped it - love that! Great job keeping up with your sewing goals, too!

Oh, back pain is just the worst, sorry that you're dealing with it and hope that your doctor will have some solutions to help you feel better. I went through a bout and physical therapy did wonders - it's amazing how tight my muscles were.

OMG... I'd suggest making an orthopedist appt now too. You can always cancel it if your GP can help. It took me 4 months to get a dermatologist appt. I sure hope you start feeling better soon. And there is an "easy" way to control it... take care.

So sorry you are having to deal with back pain. Can you pinpoint how you injured your it? How nice your sewing therapy is physical therapy too.

It took all I had in me to get the sewing machine out to make the one block. Sigh....
