A Bit of This and That

Have you adjusted to time change yet?  It's nice to have the sunlight in the morning, but it's not fun for it to be dark by the time My Guy gets home at night.  For some reason, it's harder for me to go back to the sewing room after dinner once the sun is down.  Not sure what is up with that, but that's been the case for a while.  I'll have to get myself going to the sewing room earlier in the afternoon for the next few months.

Most of my focus this week has been getting Chocolate Marshmallows  (Seabreeze Quilts) assembled.

I'm happy with how it's coming together and like the setting I chose.  The colors look muddy in the photograph, the pink is much brighter then shows in the photo. Now I'm on to adding the borders.  I should have one more finished quilt top added to the closet before the end of the month.

The other thing I did this weekend was some serious fabric closet diving to find fabrics for this year's Bonnie Hunter mystery, Old Town.

My thought was to use light and dark teal as the red and coral.  But my stash didn't support that color choice. I decided to keep the teal print and pair that with light and dark brown that would work with off white odds and ends in the stash for a semi-scrappy background.  The browns looked muddy, but there was a red that was in the stash that worked well.  The gold fabric is new as I didn't have anything else in the stash that seemed to work.  This isn't a color palette I've used before and I'm excited to get started. Are you doing the Bonnie Hunter mystery this year?

The time change part doesn't really bother me since I work at home, but I sure wish we could keep the long Days of light ;-) That is a great quilt, I do like how you are setting it!
Great BH colors too!

I'm much more bothered in the spring by the time change for some reason. It would be nice to just keep it the same all year however. I love that pink quilt, especially how you have it sashed. I'm still thinking about colors for the BH mystery, but am leaning toward a different direction.

The fall time change makes the first day of it seem long - I was ready for bed last night about 8:00! Chocolate Marshmallows is looking great - I really like the way you did the sashing. I've never done a Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt, but I always enjoy following along to see how they turn out!

time change doesn't really change my routine at all. I've always been one to not sit in living room in the evening watching tv but after the evening news I always clean up the kitchen and head to the sewing room to write up my blog - peddle my exercise machine while watching tv and then get in my quilting

I remember years ago that the library assistant dragged for days after the time change. I was in my mid-20's and adjusted with no problem. Well, 50 years later I now need a few days to adjust!

I'm with you! Fall time change is hard.

Still debating about the Bonnie Hunter mystery. I have quite a few other quilts in the early stages, so I will most likely just save the clues for a future time!

I was up very early this morning, so I still have adjusting to do for sure! I also find it difficult to be productive after it gets dark. Have fun working on Chocolate Marshmallows!

I like your line-up of fabrics for Old Town. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to work on Bonnie's next quilt when it's still a mystery.

I hate it getting dark so early too, it makes me feel like it is bedtime, LOL. I found out several years ago I don't like doing mystery quilts, but I enjoy watching others progress on them.

I love the colors in your chocolate marshmallows. I’m not sure if I’ve adjusted to the time change. I tend to wake up a little too early, but I’m able to get back to sleep. I have a harder time adjusting to the spring time change. I was ready for DST to end. It was so dark here in the morning. It’s still dark, but sunrise comes earlier.
