Thankfully this will be a relaxed weekend at home, so I'll have time to "ooh" and "ahh" my way through the festival posts.
I only have one finish for this year, but it's a quilt I've really come love.
I'd been wanting to make a Quilt of Valor for a while, but just hadn't found the inspiration to start one. I bought a fat quarter collection from Connecting Threads called "Firecracker". They were just perfect for a QOV. These fat quarters just sat in the stash until I found the pattern "Mon Ami" from Miss Rosie's Quilt Company. But this pattern was for a mini, which is too small for a QOV. So I redrafted the blocks to finish at 9" and started cutting.
The quilting was done by Trudy Lindermann. The pattern is a meander interspersed with shooting stars.
The backing is left over yardage which includes a red and white strip that I could never work into one of the blocks, the stripe just stood out too much.
The binding is the same red tone on tone used in the blocks.
The finished quilt is 67" X 76"

Unfortunately, one of the reds bleed a bit during the final wash. It's very, very faint, but I know it's there. Hopefully, I can make that go away and then get this on the way to it's new home.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my entry for this year. Enjoy the rest of the Blogger's Quilt Festival.

Great RW&B quilt. Did you try washing it with a Shout Color Catcher? I'm a Pre-washer of Reds and Dark Colored Fabrics. I use color catchers a LOT!
I also use colour catchers and they work well. It's an amazing quilt. Very nice
I also think Color Catchers are an amazing product. They've saved my butt many a time.
The quilt is gorgeous! You'll make someone very happy, I'm sure.

This is one of my favourites from your quilt collection Kate. You did an amazing job.
Someone is going to love and appreciate the effort you put into this quilt. Well done !
You did a beautiful job!
What an absolutely beautiful and perfect entry for the Blogger's Quilt Festival! You know how much I love this quilt! Best wishes!
Your quilt is so pretty! As in the previous comment, I've been told that the color catcher works great to remove excess color.
