We had a low key weekend. Mostly stayed in to avoid the heat. It is a typical August in Oklahoma weather wise. Staying in to stitch is just better for one's health when it's that hot outside.
We are back to mandatory masking where we both work. With infections continuing to increase, we'll be wearing masks for a few more months, at least till Halloween. I made a few new ones to replace the masks made with elastic, the t-shirt ear loops are much more comfortable.

The other sewing activity was to frame the Scrappy Butterfly blocks
Scrappy Butterflies Block is available in EQ 8 Block Library |
Just over halfway finished with this step. I also cut some strips and started assembling the strip sets for the 9 patch setting blocks. Those should start showing up on the design wall this week.
There was also a little progress on the next UFO on my quilt plan, Chocolate Marshmallows. This project has been on the UFO list for awhile because I couldn't come up with a setting that used the fabric yardage left over from the blocks.

I really like the dark brown rather than the pink as the borders, but I don't have enough of the brown fabric left. A bit of on line shopping yielded a tone on tone brown that should make a good substitute.
It's not an exact match, but it won't be right next to the roses print, so it should work nicely as a frame for the sampler blocks. Chocolate Marshmallows will be next up on the to do list once Cabin and Fans is ready to go out for quilting.
Linking up with Monday Making and Design Wall Monday. Have a great week.

we all thought mask would be a thing of the past didn't we after going without back in May and most of June - I had all my mask that I made last year still doing ok seeing as I don't wear every day like you do and just once or twice a week when I go shopping also I supplement with a box of disposables.
When will it ever end.
hot here too will be glad for fall
I should probably make a few new masks as well. We have to wear them WHILE SINGING in church choir now -- but at least they are letting us sing (for now, anyway). I do like your new border fabric; this quilt is lovely!
That brown should look really rich as a border. I'm re-thinking borders today for my Saturday Sampler quilt. It is interesting how much a border color can change the whole look of a quilt.
Scrappy Butterflies is so beautiful. and so sorry about the masks again *sigh* but at least yours are pretty!
Oooh, I think that brown tone on tone is going to work perfectly. And I will probably need to make a few more masks in the next month or so as well. Ours are definitely starting to show signs of use and wear.
Locked down and wearing masks in New Zealand too.
Good thing we have our sewing to keep our supply of fresh masks steady and also to distract us when the going gets tough.
The brown you have selected looks good. Hoping to see a completed top soon.
I agree with you on the brown over pink border, and I like the brown you found. It will be a great chocolate coating for your marshmallows!
Nice masks! My medical group employer provides an N95 mask each week. I’m wearing one all day since numbers have gone up here. I found the other day when cleaning out my big purse that I had 5 homemade masks in there, lol.
The dark brown looks good to me too.
Chocolate Marshmallows is a pretty quilt, and I like the substitute fabric - too bad you couldn't find more of the floral print, though!
