Stitching Stuff: Week 19 of 2025

Hope all the mothers have their kind of day.  I'm spending mine with my mom, but won't get to see my girl this year.

I wasn't very motivated this week.  Sometimes you just need to do something else. Reading was big on my list of something else for some reason.  Even so I still managed at least 15 minutes of stitching stuff each day.

  • 15 minute days/week = 7/7 days
  • 15 minute days/May = 10/10 days
  • 15 minute days/2025 = 125/130 days
  • Success rate = 96.15%

Not a bad week, just not as productive in the sewing room as I had planned.  So much for trying to maximize my sewing time this month.

On the stash reorganization front, there was some progress on the fabric closet organization.

Five pieces of yardage, plus 2 half yard cuts were pressed and folded.  The two blues on the bottom are 4 to 5 yard cuts.  It's a nice chunk to have ready to go for what ever projects I get up to later this year.

How did you do on your stitching and organization goals this week?

Eclipsing

No stitching to show off today.  We're eclipsing. Fingers crossed we get some clearing around noon so we can enjoy the show. If not, I'm going to have one very disappointed My Guy.

Stitching Stuff: Week 13 of 2024

Do you have Easter Egg hunts planned for today?  That was such a big deal with my mother in law when she was alive.  The grand kids always looked forward too the hunt after lunch.  Now our chick is way to big for egg hunts, but she still really likes those marshmallow bunnies and chicks.

As far as the stitching week, I managed to make it to the sewing room every day.

  • 15 minute days/week = 7/7 days
  • 15 minute days/Mar = 30/30 days
  • 15 minute days/2024 = 90/90 days
  • Success rate = 100%

Some days this week I just barely managed to work in my 15 minutes. The ranchers burn the fields this time of year here in Oklahoma and several days the smoke in the air was just overwhelming.  Those days it's hard to feel much like stitching.  The field burning should end soon, thankfully.

How did you do this week at working in some stitching time?

To Do List for the Week of 10/31/2023

Happy Halloween!  Our plans for the evening are to hand out candy to the kids who come by.  We used to have a lot of littles in the neighborhood, but like our daughter, many of them have grown up and left for college.  Not sure how many we'll get. It's going to be cold, plus it's a school night.

Now back to the regularly scheduled To Do List.  There was no linky party post over at The Quilt Schmilt: For the Love of Fabric last week.  I know that Carol's been really busy with non-quilting commitments, hopefully she'll soon get back to her normal routine (Update: she did get a To Do Tuesday post up). Writing up a to do list has become a big help and motivator for me, so I'm going to continue posting my list.

I scored 100% on last week's to do list.

To Do List for 10/24/2023

1. Melodic Mystery: Prep top for quilting ✔

2. Malted Mystery: Continue to work on clue 4 ✔

3. Rhododendron Mystery: Continue quilt top assembly ✔

4. Wild and Goosey: Finish last 2 yellow blocks ✔

5. Chilhowie: Continue as leaders and enders project ✔

Five of five is definitely a good week.  This week won't be as productive. I'm going to take a long weekend and visit Grad Girl.  My Guy has to work, so we'll just have a girls weekend.  But that means I won't have much time for stitching. I'll have some time before leaving, but that still won't be my normal full week of stitching.  So we'll pare down this week's list a bit.

To Do List for 10/31/2024

1. Macaron Mystery (Meadow Mist Designs): Finish label and binding. Sew to front and hand stitch to back.

I'm in the process of sewing the binding strips together. Hopefully, I can get that done and get them attached to the quilt so I can take it with me and finish stitching down the binding while I'm visiting Grad Girl.

2. Melodic Mystery (Meadow Mist Designs): Send out for quilting.

I found a box in my attic stash that would work.  I just need to add the packing material, seal it up and address it.  That should happen today.

3. Chilhowie (Bonnie Hunter): Continue as leader and enders.

All the component parts for block 8 have been constructed. Since I still have a bit of binding to stitch together, there will be just a bit of progress on block assembly before I leave.

A very short list for this week. But finishing this list means one more finish and one well on it's way to finished.  So a short, but definitely sweet stitching week if I can check off the whole list.

Stitching Stuff: Week 18 of 2023

Happy Mother's Day!  Grad Girl is not able to come home this year,  but I'll get to see her next week.  My Guy is making me one of my favorite dinners to celebrate. I'll get to spend my day in the sewing room, so it will be a nice Mom's Day for me.  I hope whatever plans you and your family have, you have a wonderful day.

I've gotten better at managing my sewing time, I'm getting in at least an hour most days.

  • 15 minute days/week = 7/7 days
  • 15 minute days/May = 13/13 days
  • 15 minute days/2023 = 112/133 days
  • Success rate = 84.21%

It may be a challenge this next week to sew for all 7 days. I'm making the trip to Texas to spend some time with Grad Girl. That's a 9 hour drive. I'm taking my machine with me as she'll have to work some of the days.  But we'll have the evenings and weekend to go do some fun stuff.

How did your stitching go this week?
