2026 Quilt Making Strategies: Second Quarter Plan

After reviewing my first quarter progress, my second quarter overall strategy won't need to change. But I will need to adjust the project list for the quarter since there is a lot that didn't get finished in first quarter.

1. Guild BOM: The focus for April is to get the blocks for May, June and July finished. I should probably also finish off the flying geese needed for the borders. Before the end of the quarter, blocks for August, September and October need to have the instructions written and the blocks made. November will be an easy block, so I'll try to get that one done as well. Then I won't have to do anything on this project till 4th quarter.

2. Wild and Goosey: Continue to use two blocks as my leaders project for the quarter.

3. UFOs to move to finished quilt tops: The plan is to focus first on the projects that didn't make it to finished quilt tops in first quarter. Since two of those don't need that much work, I'm hoping to work in at least two UFOs from the January plan.

2026 SAHRR, Magnificent Mystery, Old Town, Lupine and Laughter, Good Fortune

4. Walking foot quilting: I hoping now that I have a designated time to quilt that two quilts will get quilted this quarter. The plan is to tackle the 2 smallest ones on my list.

Chilhowie and Glowing Hearts

5. External quilting: Since I didn't get one done in first quarter, I'm hoping to get two done in second quarter.

2025 Guild BOM and Chocolate Marshmallows

If everything gets done, there will be 5 more finished quilt tops and 4 more finished quilts.  That's probably way too ambitious a plan considering that I've already lost half of April.  If there is half as much progress, I'll be happy.

First Quarter Review: 2026 Quilt Making Progress

Back in January I posted my quilt making strategies for 2026.  My goal for 2026 is to move projects to finished quilts or as close as I can get to finished for as many projects as possible. I've learned over the years it's a good idea to review where you are at with your goals a few times during the year. It's easy to forget at the end of the year what you decided at the first of the year if you don't.  The end of first quarter seemed like a good time to see if my goals still make sense and I'm on track.

First Quarter Strategy

1. Guild BOM

On track so far.  May's block needs to be done for the April meeting next week.  I have instructions written for May, June and July and I've started the instructions for August.

2. Wild and Goosey leaders

The plan for last three years is to keep two Wild and Goosey blocks in progress while I'm working on other projects. It's been slow going, but there's been steady progress over those three years. The red, yellow and orange blocks were completed in previous years. The green blocks were completed this year. Just a few more blue blocks to make and those will be finished.

3. 2025/2026 Quilt Alongs and Mysteries

Most of the quilt alongs and mystery quilts I enjoy start either at the first of the year or at the end of the year.  So first quarter I always have lots of new stuff in the works. The strategy in first quarter was to get all of those to finished quilt tops.

Magnificent Mystery (Meadow Mist Designs): Full blocks finished, partial blocks in progress. So progress was just a bit short of the goal.

Lupine and Laughter (Bonnie Hunter): Started block A. With deadlines on the other three new projects, this one didn't get much attention.

2026 SAHRR (Quilting Gail): Kept up with all the prompts, assembled the quilt center, but didn't get the last 2 borders added.

Scenic Waypoint (Meadow Mist Designs): Wasn't part of my quilt plan for 2026, but it was a fun quilt along that used up some of my older stash.  It was the one project that made it to finished quilt top during first quarter.  At least one got that far.

4. Walking foot quilting: The strategy was to quilt both Kate's Choice and Betty.  The walking foot quilting isn't hard, but I'd so much rather piece that it was easy to just not do the quilting. I finally settled on Wednesday and Thursday as my quilting days.  Once I did that, there was steady progress on Kate's Choice and it was finished by the end of March.  Betty wasn't touched.  But I'm OK with that, one finish is better than none.  I'll take the finish of a 14 year old UFO.

5. External quilting: The strategy for first quarter was to get Chocolate Marshmallow quilted commercially.  That didn't happen, so this strategy was pretty much a fail for first quarter.

First quarter wasn't a complete success, nor was it a total fail.  As usual, I was overly optimistic about what one can accomplish with 4 WIPs with deadlines in progress. Back in January, I outlined a strategy for 2nd quarter. I'm going to review that and do some course corrections. I'll share that strategy later.

2026 Quilt Making Strategies

My ambitions for 2025 have been reviewed.  My PHD performance has been rehashed.  To my surprise, there was a lot more progress on projects than expected. Plus,  I finally slayed the dragon that I'd let quilting with a walking foot become. My biggest let down was just not moving projects to finished.  Consequently, my UFO list is bigger than it's ever been.  To address that long list, it seems like a strategy would be more helpful than goals.

A couple of years ago, I tried to keep my to do lists to no more than 4 items: a priority project, a quilt to be quilted, an older UFO and a leaders and enders.  That year six quilts made it to completed. I'm going to adopt a similar strategy for 2026.

Quilt Strategy for 2026

First Quarter (Jan to March)

  •  Guild BOM
  • Wild and Goosey leaders
  •  2026 SAHRR, Magnificent Mystery, Lupine and Laughter
  •  Walking foot quilting: Kate's Choice, Betty
  •   External quilting: Chocolate Marshmallow
First quarter is a little different because there so many of the quilt alongs I enjoy start late in the year.  I won't be focusing on a UFO, but on keeping my 2025 projects from becoming UFOs.

Second and Third Quarters
  • Guild BOM
  • Wild and Goosey leaders
  • UFO to finish
  • Walking foot quilting: two quilts
  • External quilting: one quilt

Like first quarter, 4th quarter is the same strategy as first quarter since that's when most of the quilt alongs I sew along with come out.

Fourth Quarter
  • Guild BOM (2026 and 2027?)
  • Wild and Goosey leaders
  • 2026 Meadow Mist Mystery,  2026 Bonnie Hunter Mystery
  • Walking foot quilting: 2 quilts
  • External quilting: one quilt
The only other strategy that I'll keep for 2026 is to try to maintain my 15 minutes of stitching time a day.  I'll strive to keep that above 80% for the year.

2026 Projects:

Kate's Choice, Betty, Chilhowie, Glowing Hearts, Malted Mystery, Squared Away and On Ringo Lake

Chocolate Marshmallow, Indigo Way, 2024 Guild BOM, 2025 Guild BOM

Old Town, Good Fortune, Simply Sensational Summer Scrap Quilt, Celtic Solstice

Plans set in January always seem reasonable.  We'll see how these fair.  Linking up with Plans, Dreams and Goals for 2026.  I'm hoping this list is really plan and not just a dream!

2025 Quilting Ambitions: Year End Check In

Happy New Year!  Ready or not, it's 2026.  I'm definitely not ready. The first step in deciding my ambitions for 2026 is to look at how 2025 went.  Since 2018, I've played along with Quilting Jetgirl's Planning Party.  Yvonne has announced that 2025 is the last year she's going to host the party and the quarterly link ups.  Her quarterly check ups have been really helpful at making me look at my goals each year, which usually means I do something on them.  I'm not sure that worked so well for 2025.  At any rate, here's my year end ambition review. Definitely go over and check out Quilting Jetgirl's last 2025 Quilting Check In.

Ambition 1: Make quilts. My goal was to make progress on all the projects that were on my quilt plan.

I'm most disappointed in my lack of progress on the projects that need backings and quilting.  Looking back, having to find a new person to quilt my projects was probably my biggest road block to finishing more projects. So that's something to address early in 2026.

But there was progress during the year. The quilting was started on Kate's choice.  A total of 5 projects became finished quilt tops this year.  Old Town is now an assembled top, just needs borders.  I added 5 new projects this year.  Consequently, my project list is bigger than it's ever been.

Ambition 2: Learn to quilt. The walking foot isn't quite my friend yet, but I'm comfortable enough to tackle quilting a smaller quilt top.

The quilt as you go project didn't see any additional progress in 4th quarter.  It's still in time out. But I did get some additional practice on My Girl's trivets.

The kitty face isn't perfect, but it is much better than the first set I quilted.  So I'm going to claim success on this goal. The plan is to build on this skill next year and get some of my quilts finished.

3.  Fabric Organization: There was no progress on processing scraps or organizing my fabric closets in the 4th quarter.

If anything, I went backwards.  My working scrap bin is overflowing and I've not done anything with my fabric closet in months. But I have done a pretty good job of pulling from my stash for new projects this year.  Charming Hearts, Magnificent Mystery, Lupine and Laughter, and the 2026 SAHRR all use fabrics from my stash. Though I did have to buy background fabric for the Magnificent Mystery, all the other fabrics came from stash. At least I reduced what was in the fabric closet the last few months!

Not my best year ever, so I have lots of room for improvement in 2026.  My goals for 2026 aren't completely formed yet. The plan is to take some time today to decide how to define what looks like a good sewing year to me.

Wishing you lots of fun adventures in the sewing room for 2026, with a few finishes in there to keep the UFO list in check.

2025 Quilting Ambitions: 3rd Quarter Check In

It's been hard to wrap my mind around the fact that it's October already.  Wasn't it just June?  The time went fast, probably because I was busy helping Grad Girl with the transition from student to working woman.  She defended her thesis, graduated, moved home, found a job, finished her first quilt top and then moved back Texas. Most of that has happened since June.  I didn't spend as much time in the sewing room over those months.  Consequently, there was this sinking feeling when Yvonne of Quilting JetGirl posted the Q3 CheckIn

I don't think there has been much progress on my 2025 quilting ambitions during the last quarter, but maybe doing that assessment will set me up to do better in this last quarter of the year.

Ambition 1: Make Quilts. My goal here was to make progress on the projects that were on my quilt plan.

My graph hasn't changed from the end of 2nd quarter. There's been progress on several projects, just not enough to hit the major milestones on my quilting plan. I'm really falling behind on finishing quilts. That's something I should definitely focus on the next few months.

Ambition 2: Learn to quilt.  I can't say I've mastered walking foot quilting, but I've done enough to realize it's not as hard as I thought it would be.

The quilting on all the Kate's Choice blocks was finished this quarter. I've started assembling the rows. There's a learning curve on that.  Have I met this goal. Not completely, but it has been one of my goals for several years, so it feels good to at least have made a start on accomplishing it.

Ambition 3: Fabric Organization.  Not much progress on this ambition during third quarter.  With Grad Girl moving home, I did have to move all of the fabrics out of her closet and that gave me a chance to at least sort them into color groups before they went into the big bins that now take up a lot of space in my sewing room.  I need to order some shelving to better organize that closet so I can move the fabrics back. Maybe that will get done sometime before the end of they year?

With three quarters of the year gone, I've made progress on all of my ambitions for 2025.  That may be as good as it gets for this year.  And I'm OK with that.

2025 Quilting Ambitions: 2nd Quarter Check In

The end of June is not only mid year, it is the end of the 2nd quarter.  When I was working, mid year progress reviews were required. I don't have a supervisor anymore, but Quilting Jetgirl has a linky party up for the 2025 Quilting Q2 Check In, which is a good reminder to check how it's going with my 2025 quilty ambitions

It's so easy to set your goals at the beginning of the year and just forget about them.  I'm guilty of that, but maybe not so much this year.  I know what they are, but I'm not so sure I've done a good job at focusing on them.  So here's my progress on this year's ambitions.

Ambition 1: Make Quilts.  My goal is to make as much progress as I can on the projects that are on my quilt plan.  Here's where things started in January.

Here's where I'm at as of 6/30/2025.

One finish, one unplanned start and 4 projects that have hit major milestones on the road to getting finished.  I really need to concentrate on moving some of the finished quilt tops to finished quilts the last half of the year.  I'm hoping to quilt some of these myself and just send out a couple for professional quilting.  I have fabrics picked for the backings of several, but haven't done much else on those.

Ambition 2: Learn to quilt. After several years of having this ambition, I finally did something about it. All the dread of learning to use a walking foot in hindsight was just silly.  It's not hard, keeping a straight line is still a challenge, but my quilt as you go project finally is a reality.

Four rows of Kate's Choice are quilted.  Just two left.  Though I'm far from done with this project, it feels good to finally meet one of my long time goals of learning to quilt.

Ambition 3: Fabric organization. Back in April I finally worked on scrap processing and pressing fabrics.

But I've not done much since.  At least there has been some progress this year on that front. I hope to do more once our schedule slows down a bit.

Summery for midyear:  There has been at least some progress on each of my ambitions for the year, but none of them are as far along as I had hoped.  For the last half of the year the plan is to focus more on getting a few projects finished and doing more on the stash organization goal.

2025 Quilting Ambitions: 1st Quarter Check In

The beginning of April is also the end of the first quarter of 2025. The year is already one third over. At the beginning of the year I wrote up my ambitions for the year. It's easy to get caught up in the every day and completely forget what you actually intended to do with your year. So it's definitely time to look back and see if I'm on track and following the plan. To do that I'm linking up with Quilting Jetgirl for her 2025 Quilting Q1 Check In.

The first few months of 2025 went by quickly. Most of that time was focused on finishing up quilt alongs that started either last year or early this year.  So some of my goals didn't get much attention during first quarter, but that seems to be my normal.  I'm slower out of the gate on some.  Here's where things stood at the end of March.

Ambition 1:  Make quilts.  The goal is to actually make as much progress as I can on my quilt plan for 2025.  Here's the plan for 2025.

Here's how it looked at the end of March.

Three quilts have moved to finished quilt tops and a fourth is at the assembly stage. Not bad progress for the first quarter.  If I can move every bar even a little this year, it will have been a good year.

Ambition 2: Learn to quilt. I've been challenging myself with this goal for the last 2 years. I'm going to get serious about that this month since I have a break in quilt alongs. My fingers first typed that there was no progress on this goal yet, but then I remembered Grad Girl's second "learning to sewing" project.

Back at the guild retreat in January, Grad Girl used this cute little kitty pattern to make a trivet.  I layered it with backing and batting and tried quilting it just using my normal machine set up.  It ended up being a bit wonky and we had to trim a bit off. Still it doesn't look horrible.  I did learn why a walking foot is recommended for quilting.  She made two of these, the second one still needs to be quilted. That will likely be my first practice project with the walking foot once I finish practicing a bit.  (By the way, she loves this trivet and uses it all the time in her kitchen. She wants to make some for her dad for next Christmas. Hopefully, I'll be up to speed by then).

Ambition 3: Fabric Organization. I've been so busy with quilt alongs during the first quarter that I've done nothing on this goal. Last year I didn't make good progress on this goal till second quarter.  Looks like that will be the case this year too.

Though I didn't have any official ambitions around new experiences, I do have two for the quarter.  One is learning how to write quilt patterns.  I started that process back in December with doing a simple block pattern. A whole quilt pattern is more of the same, but has some unique challenges. The second new experience is going on a shop hop. It was interesting, but it was a lot of driving!

This year is off to a good start on the goal front. Hopefully I can keep it up.  Second quarter will be over before we know it.

2025 Quilting Ambitions

Happy New Year! A new year needs a new stitching plan.  The end of the year is busy, so I've been letting things percolate in my brain a bit before I get serious about writing out my goals for the new year.  The year that was 2024 was one of my better sewing years.  It's a bit daunting to think about how to improve my performance for the new year. But if I don't plan, I don't achieve. It also helps if I look at my goals more than once after I write them. Thankfully, Yvonne at Quilting Jetgirl reminds us to look at our goals every quarter in follow up to her 2025 Planning PartyI need that accountability.

I'm so happy with how 2024 worked out in the sewing room, it's hard to think of ways to improve on that. So if I can keep up the momentum through 2025, then I will  have done well.

1.  Make Quilts. My plan last year was just to make as much progress as I could on as many projects as I could. That goal worked out for me so well that I'm keeping it for this year.   This is the quilt plan for 2025.

The goal is to move the color bar for each project closer to finished.  I'm starting this year with more quilt tops that need quilting than I did last year. I'm hoping to move all of those to finished this year.  Just two quilts that need assembly, but lots of quilts that need the blocks finished and assembly into quilt tops.  I have 4 new projects for 2025, one of which I had to start a bit early. It's probably not the most balanced list. If I can finish more than I start, it would help work down the number of UFOs.

2. Learn to Quilt.  This has been on my goals for the last 2 years.  I did make some progress on the goal last year. Some of the quilts on my quilt plan are pretty small, definitely doable on my sewing machine.  I've bought the batting and have fabric sandwiches made to practice on. I've been reviewing my books on quilting, now it's time to actually practice and give it a go. It may be all straight line quilting to start, but that still works to finish a quilt. With all the new starts at the end/first of the year (Old Town, BOM, SAHRR) this is definitely something that I won't focus on till second quarter.

3. Fabric Organization.  Last year was pretty good on this front, but I still have a lot more to do.  I'm down to one bag and one drawer of scraps that need to be processed.

I also need to continue to work on my fabric closet(s).  There is still a pile of fabrics that need to washed and pressed in my main fabric closet.

I've taken over one shelf of Grad Girl's closet (she's not using it).

It definitely needs to be organized.  I'm not really sure what I have in here.  This is probably a second and third quarter priority.  At least that's when I had the most time to work on it last year.  I won't finish the project, but hopefully I can make as much progress in 2025 as I did in 2024.

In an effort to keep it simple, I'm going to limit my quilting goals to just these three.  I do have some personal goals this year and those are pretty typical.  Get active, lose some weight, declutter the house, and get some house repairs done are the big ones for this year.  I'm hoping to spend more time practicing photography this year, so there will still be a few photo blogs posted this year.

I'm hoping for a productive year on all fronts.  Happy New Year and best of luck with your own ambitions..

2024 Quilting Ambitions: 3rd Quarter Check In

With the end of September, also comes the end of the third quarter of 2024.  Just three months left in the year!  It's a good time to look over what the plan was for this year to see if there are any goals that need some attention. Quilting Jetgirl has a 2024 3rd Quarter Goal review linky party to encourage us to do just that.

Progress on my ambitions this year has been a mixed bag.  Here's the progress to date.

1. Make quilts.  The focus for this year wasn't just on finishes, moving quilts along in the process was also a goal. The plan at the beginning of the year looked like this:

In my original 2024 ambitions post, I stated my goal was to move the bar closer to finished quilt for each project on the list. There was definitely progress on that front so far this year.

Only four projects on my list have bars at the same spot as the original graph. I still have 3 months to move those bars a bit. Probably won't move all of them, but I know there will be progress on at least one more.  Not bad performance for three quarters of the year.

2. Learn to Quilt:  The plan is to try quilt as you go on a set of blocks to ease my way into the learning process.  I finished all the blocks in  August.

Diann, who blogs at Little Penguin Quilts, has been working on a quilt as you go project this year.  I can't find the exact posts, but she alerted me to Hobbs 80/20 Fusible batting. I didn't really want to use pins, but don't have any place to safely use the adhesive spray technique.  The fusible batting sounded like a good solution, so that got ordered.

I've been reading the various books I have on quilting technique, but haven't actually done any quilting yet.  I have some quilt sandwiches made up, the plan is at some point before the end of the year is use those to figure out my machine settings and do a bit of practicing.  So it's been slow progress on this ambition, but at least there's been some progress.

3.  15 Minutes to Stitch:  The goal is to stitch at least 15 minutes a day, plus host a linky party so others can share how they are doing at finding time to stitch.  My goal was to stitch at least 75% of the days in 2024.  I'm blowing this goal out of the water this year!

At the end of September, I was still at 100%.  I've spent at least 15 minutes with needle and thread every day so far this year. My best year prior to this was a 92.9% success rate.  I'm on track to beat that. Can I keep 100% for the whole year?  Unlikely, but I'm motivated to try.

The second part of this goal is to post a linky party every week. So far there's been 39, one of each week from January thru September. Usually I miss posting at least once each year. Hopefully I can keep my 100% metric here too.

4. Stash Organization:  It's a mixed bag on that front for this quarter.

Scrap Organization: Almost no progress on this front during the third quarter. There's been no progress on the #2 big scrap bag.  And I've gone backwards on the new scraps in the working scrap bin. I've finished quilts, but haven't done anything with the left overs.

I really need to get back to the scrap trimming during the 4th quarter.  I've done a bit to empty the scrap bins over the last month or so, so there should be some room for what's in the working scrap bin at least. Any of the 2.5 strips of all those blues from Diatom can go directly onto the pile for the Simply Sensational Summer Scrap quilt that is my current leader and ender project.

I did better on the fabric pressing and refolding this quarter.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the third tub refill.  We were gone for three weekends in September, so I didn't have as much time this last quarter to push towards an empty bin. I've found so many fun fabrics as I've worked through these bins; so many ideas for new quilts.

The fabric closet has been reorganized a bit.  The addition of the wire cubes on top of the wire rack has give me more space for storing fabric. Though all the extra storage is just about full.

It's much easier to see what I have now. There is still a bit of space, but that's going to fill up quickly.  Some additional reorganization opened up a bit more space.
I didn't use all the wire cubes that I ordered, so I did some reorganizing on the left side of the fabric closet.

I'm really bad about forgetting to take before photos, so this is a partial before photo on the left. The bins that show on the corner of the wire cabinet were over in the corner of the shelf. The fat quarter boxes got moved to another location in the sewing room and I added some of the left over wire cubes. The fat quarter bundles and any other precuts, were moved to the corner. It's a much more effective use of the space now.

5. Stretch Goal: Consider if pattern editing/creation is something I want to do?  Rather than go this route, I had the opportunity to utilize my technical skills and decided that was a better fit for me at the moment.  So not a fail, I just decided to go in a different direction.

This year has been a productive one on several fronts.  I never get to all the things on my lists, but I'm happy with the progress so far.  Fourth quarter is going to be challenging. Lots going on, but hopefully that won't derail me too badly.

2024 Quilting Ambitions 2nd Quarter Check In

The end of June marks the end of the 2nd quarter for 2024.  It's a good time to check in how I'm doing on my quilting ambitions (goals) for the year. My quilting goals are much like my work goals used to be. I'd write up the goals at the beginning of the year and then forget about them. At work, my supervisor would schedule a midyear goal review, I'd look at them just before the meeting and inevitably there would be one or two goals I'd forgotten about completely.  My quilting goals are pretty much the same, I don't look at them often so forget what I promised myself. It's a good thing that Yvonne over at Quilting Jetgirl reminds you to look at your goals and link up with her 2024 Quilting Q2 Check In to report on your progress.

So how am I doing on my ambitions?

1. Make Quilts. This goal wasn't just about finishing, it was written to include making progress on a number of projects.  I'm a visual person, so the best way for me to gauge progress on this goal is to look at what my progress graph looked at the beginning of January versus how it looks now.

January 1, 2024

June 30, 2024

There's been good progress in the quilts to be finished, blocks to be finished and new projects.  But there is still a long way to go to get more of those color bars farther across the chart. Several projects are close to meeting some of the milestones in the graph, so there should definitely be less white space by the end of third quarter.

2. Learn to quilt.  I finally decided that a quilt as you go project would be a good place to start with this goal. Grandmother's Choice is one of my oldest UFOs and seemed to be a good candidate for quilt as you go. I'm working on finishing up the blocks.

Once that's done, I'll focus more on doing some quilting exercises to build up my skills. Hopefully by the end of third quarter I'll have started quilting the blocks.

3.  15 Minutes to Stitch (Stitching Stuff Linky Parties).  The goal was to stitch 15 minutes a day at least 75% of the time.  Amazingly, I'm still at 100% at mid year.

This year is by far the best year I've ever had with getting in some stitching time most days.  It's become much more motivating now that I've kept it up this long, we'll see how long my 100% streak lasts.

The unstated ambition here was to post a linky party all 52 weeks of the year.  At the end of 2nd quarter, 26 linky parties had been posted for all 26 weeks of the first half of the year.  So 100% on that goal as well.  Being retired has helped on this front. I'm not traveling as much and have more time to plan for busy weekends and get a post mostly ready to go so I'm not having to come up with a post when I'm pressed for time.

4. Stash Organization.  There's been a lot of progress on this front during second quarter compared to almost none on this front during first quarter.  My focus is on scraps, yardage and organizing my fabric closet.

On the scraps front:

The working scrap bin is empty, scrap bag #1 is empty and there has been some progress on scrap bag #2. So good progress there.

Pressing and folding fabrics so they will fit on the fabric closet shelves has been a work in progress since last year.  It's been going pretty well this year.

The bin filled was on March 31st and it was empty by May 25th.  The bin was refilled on June 9th.  It was still a work in progress at the end of June.

The fabric closet was overflowing at the end of last year.

It's still far from perfect, but there is some improvement. The fabric on top of the shelving unit was washed and pressed for storage in Texas, but needs to be refolded to better fit on these shelves that were added when we moved to Oklahoma. That messy pile on top was all moved to some empty drawers in Grad Girl's old room. That's the fabric going into the to be pressed bin for a quick retouch with the iron before refolding it. The wire cubes on top of the shelving were added at the end of 1st quarter.  They were almost empty then but are slowly filling up with the refolded fabrics.

The fabric in the gray bin and on the floor hasn't been washed (I prewash my fabrics).  As I've moved the older fabrics out of the drawers, I've moved that fabric to the drawers. It's easier to get to the top two rows of the shelving now.

This goal is still a work in progress and will likely continue into next year. But it's been nice to get the fabrics better organized so I can see what I have.

5. Stretch goal: Consider if pattern creation/editing is something I want to do?

I've been busy working on my UFOs and getting the stash organized. That seems to be enough for me at the moment.  I have made the decision to take on a role that will allow me to use my chemistry and statistics know how. I'm still considering these options, but since I'm happy with where I'm at, there probably won't be any action on these this year.

How would I do at a mid-year review of my progress?  There is progress on each of my goals.  Even if goal #5 isn't going to move ahead this year, something else took it's place. That's OK, life changes during the year and sometimes you end up going in a different direction. I'm a type A personality and always feel I could have done more. But considering all the knee problems that bothered me most of first quarter and having knee surgery during second quarter, I'm pretty happy with how things are going this year.
