Meadow Mist Designs Mystery By Cheryl Brickey of the Meadow Mist Designs Blog |
It still needs a border or two to my thinking. I'm still contemplating how to finish it off. I really like the final layout. My only regret is using two different blacks as the darks. It would be more dramatic if I'd used a yellow or dark blue instead. But that's how it goes when picking fabric for a mystery and you deviate from the recommendations. On the other hand, both of those blacks have been in the stash for more than 10 years. All that's left of one of them is a 2" strip. So this was a pretty good stash buster. Cheryl will be putting on a quilt parade of all the finished quilts and flimsys starting on Wednesday. So you should definitely check out Meadow Mist Designs later this week. There have been some gorgeous versions posted to the Facebook page.
The First Amendment Quilt is back on the design wall and will be taking all my attention the next couple of weeks. Once it's done, I'll come back to the Meadow Mist flimsy and figure out the borders.

Great job eking that quilt top out! I wouldn't even notice the two different blacks, if you hadn't mentioned them. That's quite a dramatic quilt--feels like we're looking into outer space.
Beautifully done! And great job using up fabric in your stash! The blacks add so much detail and contrast!
Hooray this is beautiful! I am so excited to see how many people ended up finishing tops. :)
It is a very pretty quilt indeed! Glad you made your deadline.
Ohhh I like it!! I like the colors you chose - I think they work great together!
Well, I was trying to envision it with the changes you mention, but I love it as is. Very nice work.
Very nice quilt. You did a great job with the colors although I agree a deep navy blue would have been stunning. Does Cheryl do mysteries on a regular basis? I need to check out her site. Thanks for the eye candy today.
I like the orange and blue colors you chose! Comgratulations on getting the top put together!
Even though you might have done it differently, it is STILL a beautiful quilt. And using up stash as a bonus! You can't beat that. :)
No regrets, friend! I love the blacks you've used -- especially with those bits of color -- very attractive! Nicely eked! :)
See, I think the double blacks is far more dramatic than the original design. I love it!
I think that quilt is quite stunning as it is -- I am getting braver with black in some quilts myself--love how yours came out--and to use up an older piece of fabric is always a good feeling!
and I am happy that the 'tax' thing is over and done with--yea!!!
enjoy the moments, di
Congratulations on getting your Meadow Mystery top done in time for the parade. Yours turned out beautifully, and I love your fabric choices!

You create the most wonderful quilts.
Looks wonderful.
Intriguing design and I think your colors work just fine--as you say, it was a mystery--so this is a DARK mystery!
You did a great job getting so much done with all the other "life" you have going.
