More Unity

I've got 5 more days of vacation to enjoy before starting a new working year. The plan is to spend some significant time in the sewing room. Due to the Christmas holiday, most of my stitching time last week was all hand work.  I did make pretty good progress on that (see yesterday's post).

The only other photo worthy progress was on Unity.

Unity, 2020 Bonnie Hunter Sew-In-Place Quilt Along

The flying geese borders are all finished and attached.  Step 5 also includes the addition of two neutral border strips to the top and bottom. Hopefully I can get to that today as well as make a start on steps 6 and 7.  I'm deviating from Bonnie's instructions for those two steps. I just don't like how my fabrics look in the block she used for that round. So I'm going to use this block instead.

It doesn't have as many HSTs as the block Bonnie used. Hopefully that will translate to quicker construction and will result in a finished quilt top by the end of January.

Linking up with Monday Making and Design Wall Monday.

It's coming along really well. I admire how you keep working on this one. It's going to be wonderful when done.

I love the block you are substituting! Great choice. I'm using a simpler block in round 4 - also with fewer HST. Half of them are done already so it is going much quicker.

It looks great. Anything that uses fewer HST’s is an good choice, IMHO.

The end is getting nearer....and choosing an alternate block makes it more your own!

This quilt is turning out gorgeous. Your colors are beautiful. I cringe at flying geese after Ringo Lake. Your new block choice is a favorite of mine, so versatile.
