Before I got to feeling so bad, block 11 of the Chocolate Marshmallow sampler did get finished.
Chocolate Marshmallows, pattern by Amanda Bergamin of Sea Breeze Quilts |
I ended up recoloring this one to work with just the 5 fabrics I've been using for the sampler blocks. I need to cut out block 12, but haven't gotten that far yet.
I've felt too bad to sew, but not so bad that I couldn't play on the computer. I started working up settings for these blocks in EQ. I've got it narrowed down to three possible settings.
Sample sashing with simple borders:
More complicated sashing with pieced borders:
And finally an on-point setting:
I don't have enough of the dark brown to make anything but a very thin border. I'm having a hard time deciding between these three. Which one would you make?

Glad your feeling better! You've designed some great looking quilts. My favorite is the on point setting.
One is a classic way of setting a sampler. Three - you lose the interest and prettiness of your blocks. Two - now that is interesting and lends to the blocks and flow of the quilt.
Lol, I like the one with the most work #2. It will look very pretty whichever setting you choose. I hope you are on the mend!
I would lean toward the on point setting, but I also like the second option with the more complex sashing.
I like the third one. It is more non-traditional and I think the blocks look more interesting. Glad you at least felt good enough to compute. Get well. And thanks for coming by to WIPs Be Gone.
Wow they all look amazing, I like the on point one the best but they all look great.
They look great!
Being sick stinks! But playing with quilty stuff helps.
I like the second setting best. It's original looking and not too busy.
Aaaaah . . . you're just like me, aren't you? Playing with quilts on EQ is almost as good as playing with the 'real' thing!! LOL! I'm such a hypocrite. As much as I stay away from complitcated sashings and adding borders, the mock up that appeals to me most is the first one, which appears to have both! I adore the pink and brown combo -- yummy! Feel better SOON! :)
I always prefer an on-point setting as I think it makes the quilt more interesting. Your blocks and colors are beautiful!
My favorite is the first one! Of course, I've never been one to follow the crowd ;-)
I love the first one too!
I love the fabric in the block WOW they sure make an impact. I would go with the On Point design but then I love blocks set on points. Cheers Glenda
AWESOME sashings! Hmmm, I need to set my churn dashes - mind if I steal one of these? I also bought a border book...you're starting to make me think outside of the boring sashings and borders box.
