Happy Halloween with a Bit of Stitching Stuff

Happy Halloween!  It's been a while since Grad Girl did the dress up and trick or treat. I miss those activities now. She used to carve a pumpkin with My Guy, but she's too far away this year. She organized a pumpkin carving party with the other graduate students. She did well with her carving.

My Guy will carve his pumpkin this after noon.  We are prepared to hand out candy tonight, we'll enjoy seeing the neighborhood kids all dressed up.

I did spend some quality time in the sewing room on Sunday.  I finished the last grocery sack.

Pattern is free download from The Fat Quarter Shop

I finished two other sacks for My Guy last month, but he said he really needed one more to be able to carry what he normally buys each week.  With the addition of this one, he has three bags to use for groceries. Hopefully that will be enough.  That's probably the last grocery sack I'm going to make for a bit.  I've made a total of seven this year. It was something fun and different that got me back into stitching.  Plus these used some older fabric left overs that were just sitting in the stash. So a win, win in my book.

Linking up with Monday Design Wall, as well as with Quilting and Patchwork.

  1. That pumpkin is awesome! Sometimes I miss those activities with our kids, but then no, not so much - lol! Love the grocery sack - thanks for the pattern link.

  2. I miss the days of trick or treat and Halloween pumpkins - I will help at the Halloween party late today at the library but it isn't quite the same as there are so many in and out of the library you don't really have time to really enjoy it all - I have marvel at the thought that your husband does the grocery shopping and brings his own bags - my husband would be totally out of his element and helps with nothing!!

  3. Even though I taught in a HS, I always dressed up for Halloween. It was fun! I do look forward to seeing all the cute kids at my door for trick or treat. Our neighborhood had lots of families when we moved here but those kids are all pretty much grown up so the numbers of trick or treaters has shrunk. Still fun though!

  5. That's a fun cat design on Grad Girl's pumpkin! It's great she's getting new friends together for a fun evening like that. Halloween is very different when the kids move away. Great grocery sack!

  6. I too like to move older fabric out when possible. Cute cat. We didn't do pumpkins this year. Maybe next year. Hope you keep finding time for sewing.

  7. Hi Kate, those are great bags. It's nice to have something straight forward to get you back in the grove!

  9. Pretty bags, and you can't have too many bags ;)) It's great to have projects that let you stitch.
Thank you for sharing, and linking up!

  10. Her pumpkin is great! We didn’t wind up getting them this year - high school kids too busy with other activities. I enjoyed the days of taking them around (and going after some candy when they got home).
