I'm not ready for it to be Monday. This weekend just wasn't long enough. I did get to spend a lot of time in the sewing room and made good progress on a few projects. The first goal was to get the final borders sewn on Frolic.
That's done. So Frolic is now a finished quilt top.

I'm really happy with how it turned out. Now to get the backing made. I've got a thought on that, but need to check how much yardage there is. Stitching up a backing won't happen till Storm at Sea is all prepped for quilting.
There was good progress on the other mystery quilt, Unity.

The sawtooth star border is all finished. All that's left of step three is to get the 1" background border strips sewn on. The strips are all cut, it shouldn't take too long to attach them.
Now I need to go get ready for the work week. Some weeks that's harder than others. But first I'm linking up with Monday Making and Monday Design Wall.
Hooray, hoorah! Frolic is a flimsy! I've followed the progress of your project and I'm cheering with you. Your Unity colorway is very striking.
ReplyDeleteHope the week at work goes smoothly and you can get some quilting time in the evenings.
Congratulations on finishing your Frolic flimsy--it looks fantastic! Your redesigned border worked out great! Time for me to get mine done too.
ReplyDeleteFrolic looks fabulous. Just curious, is the border the one that Bonnie designed or did you do your own thing? I think your border does a lot for the quilt. Congrats on a finished top! Hope you can squeeze in some more quilting time this week.
ReplyDeleteBonnie's quilts are always a lot of work - I have only made one of hers - I was going to start Unity and then decided I didn't need another project right now
ReplyDeleteFrolic looks amazing! Congratulations! And I love your border. Unity is coming along nicely, too, and I'm looking forward to seeing how you quilt your Storm at Sea!

ReplyDeleteWowza!! Frolic turned out beautifully and I really like your flying geese borders. I chose to golf this weekend while we had perfect weather, and never saw my sewing room. Hope to get plenty of sewing time this week now.
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are looking very yummy! Oh, it's nice to have tops finished. Hope the work week isn't horrendous so you can spend more time with needle and thread.
ReplyDeleteOh boy you are getting to the finish line on Frolic--and I really like how Unity is coming along--such pretty colors there too--
ReplyDeleteDid you see that Chase E won the Daytona road course on Sunday--he did a good job of defending off that Denny H guy!!

Looks like things are happening there!! All look great, love the frolic border.
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Kate! That turned out beautifully.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing your Frolic top. The colors are striking. I finally put the borders on mine and need to tackle the quilting. I just didn't have the time to do Unity but ended up buying the pattern. Someday I'd like to make one. I'm looking forward to this year's mystery.
