Stitching Stuff: Week 33 of 2020

It was a very long work week.  I spent Saturday recovering. No housework, no laundry, but there was a bit of retail therapy (more on that later).  I've finally gotten into a rhythm in the evenings and that's been working well in getting me into the sewing room on a regular basis. Have you been able to work in 15 minutes a day of stitching time this last week?

It was a good week for getting in some regular sewing room time.

  • 15 minute days/week = 6/7 days
  • 15 minute days/August = 13/15 days
  • 15 minute days/2020 = 201/228 days
  • Success rate = 88.16%
I didn't get any stitching time in Friday night.  I ended the work week with sniffles and a nasty sinus headache. I spent the evening with a good book and then called it a day just a bit early.

I woke up Saturday not feeling any better. The headache finally backed off about 9 AM, so I decided to make a quick trip to the local quilt shop. Petting fabric sounded like a nice way to recover from a stressful week.  If you go early on Saturday, the shop is usually pretty dead.  I was the first customer and for the next 30 minutes, the only customer.  I came home with just a couple of new stash additions.

Top Fabric: Timeless Treasures Colorful Math Doodles on Grid
Bottom Fabric:  Clothworks Sunday Afternoon by Jim Ishikawa

My Guy really likes his science face masks, the top fabric really fits that style.  The floral on the bottom I thought would make a beautiful background fabric for a RSC project.  I don't have anything in the works right now, but I'm sure it will work for something later.

So how was your stitchy week?  Link up below and share how you did at finding some time to spend with needle and thread.

  1. Love both of your fabric acquisitions. When I shop, I try not to touch much and try to remember to use a wipe when I have to open a cooler door or pick up an item. But fabric, I HAVE TO touch!

  3. Beautiful fabric additions! I miss going to the quilt shops. It has been over six months for me with only one quick visit to JoAnn's to pick up some pillow forms. It's a good thing I have such a large stash!

  4. The science fabric would also make a good background since it has lots of colors.

  5. we must have something in our area in this part of the country as I know we are not a great huge distance from each other as I have had a sinus headache two days this week - usually starts in the afternoon and gone for my by late in the day.

  6. Cute fabrics. My week was stressful too, and I went into a quilt shop, but didn’t buy anything. Kind of amazing, when you get right down to it.

  7. I battled with sinuses the whole week ... I think it was a weather thing for us. Sometimes I feel like a human barometer. I got some hand work stitching in pretty much every night over the past week! I slipped into our LQS on Friday for a yard of fabric (Moda solid white, for embroidery) and came out $60 poorer! LOL! It was actually mostly floss for kits I'm making up, so the cost is recoverable! Hope you're feeling better and get to enjoy some solid stitching time! :)

  8. Love your new fabric and I bet it was so fun to go to a quilt shop! I had a really good stitching week - all but one night, and I spent that night puttering around in my sewing room. I am at the start of a week of vacation, so looking forward to having all the time in the world to do what I want!

  9. Love that little floral print. I haven't been in a quilt shop since February. Of course, I also haven't run out of fabric yet either.

  12. Sorry your sinuses have been playing up, mine haven't been great this week either. I thought that small floral was a liberty print very pretty and the science fabric is fun. I didn't get to sewing class this week so no fabric shopping for me which is probably a good thing, plenty of online shopping though but not fabric (thread and yarn). Hope the head improves soon.

  13. Great fabrics! Other things were more important this week, but I did get a few days in. Life is picking up as it does every fall with more energy. Good luck this week!

  14. Hi Kate. I am glad you were able to get out and go to the fabric store. You came home with great picks for specific purposes. That is the way to shop.

I hope you get over your sinus issues soon and that it doesn't get worse.
