Rainbow Scrap Challenge - Dark Chocolates

This week went fast, there was a lot going on.  Tuesday night was the end of the year volleyball banquet.  Thursday night was last minute shopping for Drama Teen's entry into the Trunk or Treat competition at her old school. The school has a Fun Night, basically a school wide Halloween party, every year as a fundraiser.  DT wanted to be a witch, but after we raided closets that became a gypsy witch because we couldn't come up with a black dress.  The black cloak she's wearing is from one of my Halloween costumes when I was in high school.  I guess that makes it "vintage" clothing? 

Last night was spent getting DT ready for the Trunk or Treat, which after all the effort spent on decorating the car, got moved inside because of the rain.  After  DT sped off to Fun Night, I spent the rest of the evening finishing up a report for work.  Now it's on my boss's electronic desk top and I'm done with the heavy lifting part of the project.  I promised myself a couple of days off work once I finished up that project.  The plan at the moment is to take a long weekend next week as I now have a new project that kicks off the beginning of next week.  

 Add in the one evening spent recovering from a blinding headache, and I didn't get much stitching done this week.  So all I have to show for this week's Rainbow Scrap Challenge post is the completion of only one more Twinkle Star.

I always thought brown was a dreary color, but these deep browns come off as rich rather than drab.  I really like these two Twinkle Stars.  The remaining 4 brown blocks are cut out and are sitting at the sewing machine in various stages of assembly.  It will be next week before the all make it to the design wall.  

 All the green scraps went into the Twinkle Stars back in May.  Any lime green got used then.  So I'm going to take a departure from Angela's color plan and spend November with my red violet scraps.  Those will definitely make some bright blocks!

    looks great! I, too, did all my greens when we did the other greens earlier in the year. I think i'll just start putting my quilts together in November- I have SO MANY blocks!

    Your brown fabrics are wonderful; I especially like the one with gold swirls. It looks like a box of luxury chocolates.

    hmmm red violet... my favorite color. I already did lime too... I'll join you in red violet! The twinkle stars are just LOVELY and now I want to make some too. LeeAnna

    Oh she;s such a lovely witch ! :) The brown stars are rich and deep and lovely, yes. When I think of lime green I think of a bright one, yet limes are kind of just green...well I looked around and I have alot of JUST greens for applique stuff but I do have a wee bit of neon green and an apple green so I suppose I'll work with them...

    I'll come gawk at your red violet stars with glee! I need greens and purples for my rainbow quilt, so red violets are in my future for the month, too. 8)

    I love your twinkle stars. The browns that have a lot of green mix in them can look drab, but those with the reds in them are a deep satisfying chocolate. These are by far the hardest to find in the shops - no one seems to sell them.

    So sad that trunk and treat got rained out. I was just reading about this whole concept. Not something we do where I live. The brown twinklers are anything but drab. Absolutely rich and yummy.

    My husband goes from one big project (and associated deadlines) to another, the way it sounds like your job is going at the moment. Stressful. Sorry about the headache but glad you were able to get some sewing in. That new twinkle star is gorgeous.

    Yes, those browns are rich. That fabric in the top star makes it look like it's twinkling. I'm in healthcare...I.T. to be exact...talk about headache..with gov regulations and the changing face of healthcare I'm glad I'll be retiring in 2017! Talk about moving from one project to the next at a fast pace...yes, I sew to reduce that darned stress!! Good luck on your projects - sewing and other wise.
