3. Unity: Prep for quilt for quilting - No progress

6. Rhododendron: Leaders and Enders ✔
I lost two days of stitching time, four check marks and progress on a fifth to do isn't a shabby week in the sewing room. I'm hoping to be mostly back to normal this week. The challenge for the to do list is how to manage 4 ongoing projects? I don't want to loose momentum on the two mystery quilt alongs, but I'm starting two new quilt alongs this month. I can string piece with the best of them, but it's hard to see a lot of visible progress when you are trying to work on four at once. I'm going to break down the steps and focus on one project at a time rather than trying to make progress on all of them at once.
To Do List for 1/10/2023
1. Melodic Mystery (Meadow Mist Designs): Finish half blocks for Jan clue
The December clue blocks are still up on the design wall, but the half blocks for the Jan clue are spread out over at the sewing machine.
2. Chilhowie (Bonnie Hunter 2022 Mystery) : Finish first block & clue 2
I wanted to finish one block so I could see how my fabric choices worked out. The top and bottom borders aren't oriented correctly. I'll fix that next time I work on it. All the pieces for clue 2 are cut, I just need to assemble those. After that I'll probably work on the pieces needed to assemble each block. But that will be part of next week's list.
3. Diatom (Quilting Jetgirl): Press fabrics
I had to do a bit of stash diving to come up with four fabrics that had enough, but not too much yardage. I'm planning to keep this quilt to replace the couch quilt that Grad Girl stole when she moved to Texas. I loved Yvonne's blue version, so I'm going to stick with that color family for mine.
4: SAHRR: Make center block
I've decided on this gray as the neutral for the project. Last week I posted my two potential center blocks. I'm going to be making the birds, My Guy liked that one best. The plan is to go scrappy, but limit the palette to the cool tones (blue, green, purple, teal).
5. Rhododendron (Bonnie Hunter 2021 Mystery): Leaders and enders.
I'm still making the hour glass components for the last block B. It's slow progress, but it keeps the project advancing.
That's my list for this week. You can check out other to do lists over at Carol's Quilt Schmidt: For the Love of Fabric.
sounds like Covid is dragging out a bit for you as it does for some - but as long as you can still do things that is good.
ReplyDeleteUgh on the lingering low grade fever. It amazes me how my cold has sidelined me, and I don't have fever, so kudos to you for getting anything done. I look forward to seeing how you do your SAHRR with the birdies. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you did great, with Covid and fever. Take care. Best wishes for a better week.
ReplyDeleteI think you did amazing with your goals for last week considering you had Covid and needed a lot of rest and recuperation. I hope you continue to feel better every day and that your fever breaks soon. I love your pull for Diatom; they will be beautiful together. Which setting and size are you planning to make?
ReplyDeleteConsidering you are not feeling well, any progress the past week is a bonus. Love those blues for Diatom. I hope by next To Do Tuesday you are feeling good again.
ReplyDeleteKate I’m amazed at all you got done with being I’ll with Covid. Your projects are advancing and the fabrics for Diatom are perfect. It will be a lovely couch quilt to replace the one Grad Girl “borrowed” You chose the birds for SAHRR center block? What fun! I’m still impressed that you can keep working on more than one QAL at a time. Feel better soon and good luck with this week’s list. Thank you for linking with TDT.
ReplyDeleteHi Kate! Oh, key-rap for getting COVID. I was blessed with an outbreak on 12/20. Nice way to spend Christmas. Be kind to yourself and get lots of rest and water. I was able to get a prescription (Paxlovid) which is supposed to minimize symptoms. I had a very light case, for which I'm very thankful, but it's nothing to mess around with. I wonder what the longterm impact is. Yippee! I'm so glad you decided to go with the birds for SAHRR. I can't wait to see how your project comes together. I love the blues you selected for Diatom. They look so calm and relaxing to me. Good luck this week with your list. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteYou did amazingly well this week considering you still have a fever, Kate! Hope keep getting better each day. Those blues for Diatom are beautiful! Loving the Chilhowie colors, too. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon. That's quite a list when you aren't feeling great. Maybe your husband is one of those lucky immune people. I hope so.
ReplyDeleteHoping you get well!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are feeling a bit better, Kate. I have heard many say that it has taken a little longer to get over Covid this time. I wish you a very speedy recovery soon. You have got a lot completed this past week and I hope this week is just as productive.
ReplyDeleteWell shoot, sorry to hear that Covid was hanging on for a while. I agree with you that dedicating a little time to each project is probably the best way to focus - your orange and blue block looks great!
