The sewing room saw a bit of action this weekend. The binding on the 2019 Christmas Mystery quilt is done. But that happened at 10 PM last night, so there hasn't been a chance to take the glamor shots of the finished project.
Bordering seemed to be the theme at the sewing machine this weekend.
The first round of borders for the Red, White and Blue Star quilt are in the works. Then I finally finished another pieced border strip for Unity and stitched it to the rest of the quilt.

That finishes off the stitching in Clue 4. I didn't exactly follow Bonnie's directions for the Friendship Star blocks in this clue, but I'm happy with my variation. Clue 5 includes another narrow border strip and a set of flying geese. Hopefully, that one will go a lot faster than clue 4 went.
I'm hoping for a quiet and much less stressful week. Saturday, the single day count of COVID cases in out state was over 4000. I'm definitely not planning on going any place other than work and home this week. So hopefully that means more stitching time.

we had close to 1500 I do believe and each day it is around that now - it used to be 500-800 it is crazy - I am thinking I might need to go back to grocery shopping with pick up but I like to get out a little bit so will try first thing in the morning but will skip any other kind of wandering about - the quilt is looking great
ReplyDeleteYikes! We had a scare with our grandson. Teachers are day care/ preschool came down with it. He tested negative so we breathed a sigh of relief. (especially since the whole family visited together after the first teacher found out.) Hum, flying geese easier than friendship stars? Let us know how that goes -- it's definitely less pieces to sew. Take care of yourself and family.
ReplyDeleteI’m loving the stars quilt. Unity looks like quite an undertaking. I’ve never made one of her quilts because there is so much piecing! She’s like Pat Sloan that way. Lots of HST’s. The quilt is beautiful though. Our COVID cases have been on the rise in Oregon too, but I don’t think we’re as high as you are. Our governor has shut down certain of our counties again, although our county is not on the list. Rural areas are, of course, doing better than urban settings.

ReplyDeleteI love the Red White and Blue star quilt. Can't wait to see it finished. And your Unity is wonderful. I have the pattern but have not made it. I see yours and I get an itch to make my own LOL. But will have to wait until after the Grassy Creek.
