To Do Tuesday - Giving it a Go

With the end of the year looming, I'm hoping to move a few more projects to finished.  I finally realized this weekend that I've got way too many projects in the works at the sewing machine. That means I'm making a little progress on a lot, but not enough to move projects to the finish line. It's time to pare back the number of projects in progress and set some weekly priorities.

I'm going to try something new with the priority setting. Rosanne and Sue, who blog over at Home Sewn By Us, have long shared their weekly to do list on their blog. They recently started a weekly To-Do Tuesday linky party for others to share their to do lists.  I'm usually pretty good about sticking to my priorities if I've publicly committed to them on the blog. So I'm drafting and sharing a weekly to do list to see if it helps me stick to my priorities.

To Do List for the Week of October 22nd to 28th

1. Vintage Dresses - Bind

The quilt is trimmed and the binding is made.  Now it needs to be pressed, sewn to the front and then hand stitched to the back.  I also need to print out the label so it can be sewn in with the binding.  Finishing off Vintage Dresses is October's One Monthly Goal. With a little over a week left in the month, I need to get moving on this one.

2.    Mosaic Mystery - Finish clue 2.

All the gold centered blocks are finished and there are only a few more of the beige centered blocks to finish off. I want to get these done so I'm ready for clue 3.

3.  2019 Christmas Mystery quilt clue 3.

Clue one and two are finished. I won't pick up clue 3 till Saturday morning, but the weekend is the best chance I'll have to get it finished.

4.  Twinkle Stars - Finish sewing the rows together.

There's just a couple more seams to finish off. But there are lots of points to match up, so it takes a bit of time to get the rows pinned together.

Fingers crossed that I can focus on these four and move at least one quilt to the finish line this week.  You can check out other to do lists over at Home Sewn by Us To-Do Tuesday Linky Party.

  1. I love Twinkle Stars. I too have too many in the works and thought it time to concentrate on two or three only until they are done and go from there

  3. That’s an ambitious list. I appreciate your comments though. I’ve decided I have too many projects too, and it starts feeling onerous. I’ve had this idea about twenty in 2020...lose 20 pounds and finish 20 quilts. I wonder what other sets of 20 I can come up with.

  4. I have too many projects too - but, a little progress eventually turns into a quilt, right?

  6. That is a great list for your first time linking to To-Do Tuesday! Wow! You have 2 mysteries going at once! I've seen so many to tempt me this year, but I've decided I have to Finish! (word for the year, Finish!) before starting new. Good luck on your goals, I look forward to see your results!

  7. Hi Kate! I can not tell you how excited I am that you are linking up today. But even more, that your first project on the list is the Vintage Dresses. I just adore this project, and have been waiting and waiting for its finish. Just binding?!! Come on, Kate. You can do it - one week to sew on and sew down that binding. Plenty of time! Your gingerbread blocks are so cute. What a fun QAL - can't wait to see what the next step is. Twinkle Star is gorgeous - this is another great almost finish. Oh so close! Thanks for linking up today! ~smile~ Roseanne

  10. I get lots of projects to the point of flimsies and then they stall. I have a ton of quilts that actually need quilting, it's just not my strong suit. If I were rich, I'd send 'em all out!! LOL! Your Twinkling Stars is such a delight! It makes me smile big! :)

  11. You can do it Kate! It's amazing how quickly this year has gone by and we're already in the fourth quarter. My weeks are always so much more productive when I start with a goal list on Monday. Good luck meeting yours!

  16. Working on less is more productive to finishing that's for sure. I packed projects for my retreat yesterday and have limited myself to 3. One BOM which is way behind, my top and bottom borders of applique quilt and the quilt I started in a class a couple of months ago and I am not taking my sewing machine. Yesterday I also spent time packing away a couple of my just started projects that I don't feel inclined to go on with at the moment.

Those Gingerbread guys are very cute but I've sworn off xmas projects, unless they are small and can be finished in an afternoon.
