So my weekend stitching plans didn't work out so well. There were two goals for the weekend, get caught up on the Meadow Mist Designs Mosaic Mystery blocks and get the Twinkle star blocks sewn together (that was the September One Monthly Goal). Neither happened, but at least there was progress. I've managed to get about half of the house blocks done for the Mosaic Mystery September Link Up.

The next clue comes out on Thursday. My Guy is leaving on a business trip today, so I'm hoping there will be time the next couple of nights to get all caught up on these blocks before the next clue comes out.
Getting the Twinkle Star blocks all sewn together ready for borders was this month's One Monthly Goal. But I didn't plan very well, so that didn't happen. I needed to get Storm at Sea off the design wall, which happened a bit later in the month than anticipated. Secondly, I didn't think about all the matching seams that would need to be pinned.
There are 5 places were the seams need to match. So that's a lot of pinning. Even though the OMG didn't get done, I was able to go from this stack of blocks,
to having the top two rows sewn together and an additional 5 rows partially assembled.

I'm happy with the progress even though I didn't meet either goal. September has been a rough month on the personal front, news that's not mine to share has made life a bit stressful and uncertain. Unfortunately, the other shoe drops in October. Fingers crossed every thing works out and life evens out after the middle of the month.

Your stars sure do twinkle in the colors you've used for them. They are beautiful. Spending time with our adult children is the best. I hope October is better for you.
ReplyDeleteYour Mosaic blocks are very beautiful! I am so excited to see your Twinkle quilt continue to come together!
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing. There’s always October to finish off your goal.
ReplyDeleteWeekends always feel wide open at the beginning, don't they?! Glad you got to spend time with with your SIT, but so sorry about the allergy issues. Every seam on your Twinkle Stars is a step in the right direction!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with those stars! It's going to be a gorgeous quilt! You may have not met your monthly goal and all your weekend plans were tossed out the window, but you got to spend time with SIT! And yard work is done. That just means the next weekend your quilting will have your full attention!
ReplyDeleteProgress you've made sure looks lovely up on the Design Wall!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the allergies--Fall and Spring are always the worst seasons, of course.
Good luck with making your goals this month, stitching time is healing!
Give yourself credit for using your time so well and accomplishing as much as you did. And spending time with the SIT is much more important than sewing. I hope everything works out for you in October.
ReplyDeleteThe Twinkle Star blocks look wonderful together. This will be a stunning quilt.
ReplyDeleteI may need a Benadryl induced coma later today as my allergies are bad today.
Family is always always more important than stitching--with food the next important thing (need food for energy!!)
ReplyDeletesometimes we just plain plan too many projects to work on--you will get there--
luv, di
Have no fear; you are way ahead of me in the Mosaic Mystery... I'm glad you got a little sewing time in as I'm sure it helps with the stress levels. I hope things do indeed even out after mid-October. Hugs my friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling over that deep purple fabric on your mystery geese! Beautiful. I hope things go better for your family very, very soon!
ReplyDeleteThere are no failed monthly goals only postponed ones. Treasure time with the SIT because before you know it, she will really be off on her own (or with a companion) so make your memories while you can. Twinkle stars will shine again soon.

Love those twinkle stars. And yea for moving your project forward. I hate when “life” gets in the way. I had way too much life going on this summer. Wishing both of us a calm, reasonable fall. (Hopefully the weather here will get out of the 80s and 90s this weekend and stay in the cooler range.
ReplyDeleteNot bad for a week that was so marred by chores and allergies!!! Wishing you lots of good sewing days next week. Love those beautiful blocks!!!
ReplyDeleteTwinkle Stars is a beautiful quilt in progress! Each time you show the finished blocks, I want to make them even more, but I have been unable to find the link on So Scrappy for the tutorial. Is there a different name for it?
ReplyDeleteYou will get there. Remember, these are personal goals, not deadlines with repercussions. Take life as it comes and take care of yourself first.
ReplyDeleteI totally love Twinkle Stars! Beautiful! Your weekend was taken up with nice family stuff, (except the allergies) so definitely worth postponing the quilting a bit.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear last weekend didn't go as planned. Wishing you more sewing opportunities this weekend!
ReplyDeleteSome months are like that. At least you did manage to get a little bit done. Sometimes it's amazing we get anything done at all. Hope things settle down for you soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you had a rough week and it sounds like the beginning of October won't be much better. Sounds like you did get some good time with SIT and I absolutely love your twinkle stars. Hoping that you got some time to sew this week.
