It was late afternoon before I managed to make it to the sewing room. The last Red, White and Blue Star block made it under the needle and is now finished. Here's all 12 blocks up on the design wall.
These blocks were last June's One Monthly Goal. For now, these stars will go back into the project box. This is my oldest UFO, so I'd love to finish it, but there are other quilts on my UFO list that need to be finished by the end of the year. This one is probably staying with me, so it doesn't have a deadline. It's definitely going on the 2019 quilt plan.
July's One Monthly Goal is to get all the Inverted Star blocks framed so they are ready to set together.

Each block gets a very narrow white frame, followed by a wider colored frame. Only the last row needs the white frames sewn on and I've got a good start on the colored frames. The colored frames are wider than necessary so the blocks can all be trimmed to a consistent 15.5". The top row of blocks is all trimmed up and ready for sashing. I'm hopeful that I'll actually meet my OMG this month.
Linking up with the usual Monday morning crowd.

I absolutely LOVE these stars!! While they won't be going on my 2019 RSC List, they will definitely join the LONG list of someday quilts.
ReplyDeleteOh these are so pretty, each and every one of them! Cheering you on to meeting your goal;)
ReplyDeleteThe inverted stars are so bright and cheery. I look forward to seeing the finish. The red and white stars just pop on the royal blue background. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteThe inverted Stars are just gorgeous!! I love seeing the progress you've made with them. The blue in your R,W &B quilt is so vibrant!
ReplyDeleteI love star blocks, and both of those are so pretty and unique! Looks like you're making lots of progress!
ReplyDeleteYour fabric colors are so vibrant.
ReplyDeleteI love your inverted star blocks and I can't wait to see more of the blocks get frames! :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful rainbow quilt with the frames! Good job on getting that OMG together as well. I do the same as you by setting yearly goals some of which being a part of a quilt getting done instead of a complete finish. Some quilts just need a little here and a little there.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh...I love both quilts, and I'm especially partial to the red, white, and blue stars. It's hard to put them off for so long...at least it is for me. I have a lot of quilts to finish before I can get to the most recent ones. There will be time this winter.
ReplyDeleteThose blocks look terrific... and the extra white and color frame really works well. Thanks for the link to the pattern. It is now stashed on the computer. (Must think about doing these for next years Rainbow Scrap Challenge.) You sure have a way with color. I really like your r, w, & b blocks too. Have a great week and hope you can sneak some time in the sewing room.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful star quilts - love them both!
ReplyDeleteThe inverted star blocks are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou really have some nice colorful 'colors of fabric' in your stash for all these projects--

These dark frames are one of your signature styles! They really make each star pop :)
ReplyDeleteThe blocks all look great! I can't wait to see the colors you add to the last project.
ReplyDeleteThe inverted star blocks are so cool on their own, but the added color borders make them shine. It will be stunning.
ReplyDeleteThe blue background for the red and white stars is electric. Is it the same fabric used as the background for the dress block in your header photo?
Both sets of stars look wonderful! The deep blue background really makes the red and white stars pop, and I love the scrappy rainbow goodness of the Inverted Stars.
ReplyDeleteSeptember is stars challenge at IB my favourite block! Love both of yours. Yes I have been watering and walking the dog (plants for the watering LOL) before 10 most days this week as it's been so hot and humid too. Yesterday the 'feels like' temp was 40C, which is over 100F I know... today the humidity is down at least, so off we go now I'm caught up with emails, and most blogs...
ReplyDeleteYah you... you can do it!!
ReplyDeleteLove your inverted stars. Good luck with your goals.
ReplyDeleteLove how you used scaps so coherently to create such lovely blocks. They will make wonderful quilts.

I love both these sets of stars!!! We have to get outside early to do yard work, too. Today, it was 76 degrees at 7am!
ReplyDeleteLove love love all your stars. So striking, so beautiful and just perfect. The deep dark blue is so invigorating and the red so bright. Oh how I wish you move this up in your list of to-do projects. This will be a fabulous, gorgeous, spectacular finish - whenever that maybe.
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are beautiful, I love your red stars, and these blocks soon to be framed are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got some time with the SIT - your quilts are looking great
ReplyDeleteI love the red, white, and blue star blocks! Do you have an idea on how you would like to combine them into a quilt top?
ReplyDeleteBoth sets of stars look great - congrats on finishing your red, white, and blue stars!
ReplyDeleteThat bright blue background really makes the stars pop. It looks great. I think it needs to go to the top of the UFO list for the simple reason that it IS going to be kept for you! :-)
