En Provence, A Bonnie Hunter Mystery (2016) |
I like how this one came together and it may be my favorite Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt so far. My version is made from yardage, not scraps. The fabrics used in this quilt are left overs and rejects from the Geisha quilt made for my niece several years ago. She's been asking me if I have a pastel quilt as she'd like a lighter colored one for the spring and summer, so I think she's getting this one too. she has a birthday in August, so that works out nicely. The feature fabric from the Geisha quilt got used up on the back of this one, as did the pink and the burgundy.
After piecing the back, all that is left of these fabrics is pretty much just scraps. It's nice to finally find a final home for them and have them out of the stash.
Trudy used an all over floral motif for the quilting. Very pretty and it gives the quilt a nice drape.
So that's one off the UFO list for 2018.
I can't seem to make it below 17 UFOs. I've done a pretty good job on finishing off most of my newer projects within a year, but I'm struggling to finish off the older ones. Progress has been made, so at some point I should start seeing lots of finishes.
Here's one last look at En Provence.
The next finish will probably be the Magnolia Mystery, the Meadow Mist Designs 2017 mystery quilt. All it needs is binding. But since that one isn't a year old yet, it will not lower my UFO numbers (It will keep the number from going back up to 18, so that's good too). That one should be finished by August. At the moment, I'm trying to finish off the Red, White and Blue Star blocks that were last month's OMG. Then those will go back to the project box till probably next year.
En Provence is also on my 2018 Finish Along list for third quarter 2018.

This is absolutely beautiful! I've really enjoyed following this one from the beginning and everything about this version is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour En Provence is absolutely gorgeous! Congrats on a beautiful finish!
ReplyDeleteThat En Provence is gorgeous...I'll just second Julie and Alison there. I'm in awe of the piecing involved in Bonnie's mystery projects.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out beautifully, Kate. You have a good eye for color, and using the leftover Geisha fabric on the back was perfect. I’m with you on having a hard time finishing up the oldest of the UFO’s. I dread working on some of them. Maybe the secret is to work on the ones least liked and get them out of our lives.
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful. Congratulations on a fantastic finish.
ReplyDeleteWonderful finish. I'm sure your niece will love it too. You did an outstanding job picking colors for this quilt. And YEA for moving a UFO off the list. I'm with you on not making that much of a dent on my UFOs. Unfortunately, I have quite a few more than you!
ReplyDeleteEn Provence is my favorite Bonnie Hunter mystery too. I gave mine to my sister and have been thinking about making another one, but like you, I have many, many UFOS to complete! I read an article about leaving quilts, not fabric, and it inspired me to finish as many as I can.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous!!! I don't think I could give that one away!!
ReplyDeleteHoly wow. That's a stunner!!! Like others have commented, I'd be ard-pressed to give this one away!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your gorgeous finish!
ReplyDeleteLove your finish--and I know that has to feel good to have that finished--and it is a really beautiful quilt--congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteGuess what one I worked on this morning??? My Dress one--I had 4 more dresses all designed-just needed to decide on fabrics and cut out the patterns and now that is done--just need to iron them and cut them out and applique them-will have a total of 12 blocks when they are finished!!!
enjoy, di
ps wasn't it nice to see someone new win a Cup race?????
I love your finish, such a beautiful quilt! Pretty quilting too
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this quilt. I'm always excited when I finish a quilt. I bounce around for a couple days.
ReplyDeleteYour En Provence is beautiful, Kate! I love the colors you chose for it, and it sounds like your niece will, too.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! on a beautiful finish.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finish - I love your version of En Provence! Even if they are slow coming, a finish is a finish. I am like you and hover around 15 UFOs at any given time...must get working on them to get down to the dozen I’d like to be at. Hope you have a great (if normal at work) week.
ReplyDeleteYay for such a pretty finish!! Now, go slay more dragons! I mean, quilts.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish - I really like all the twinkly bits of pink in there!
ReplyDeleteYour En Provence is so, so lovely! Congratulations on getting it finished and knowing who will be it's forever owner :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! Congrats on the finish! I have a meadow mist mystery quilt languishing in my ufo pile too! Maybe it will see the light in Q4?!
ReplyDeleteI really like the colorway you chose. My En Provence is a flimsy, but got put aside as other projects surfaced. Congratulations on getting yours finished.
ReplyDeletePat
Absolutely stunning! Congrats on finishing it! Did you end up changing the name? I don't remember.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful and the quilting is my favorite part.
ReplyDeleteI did a Bonnie Hunter one year and didn't like it. I changed it up a bit and really like it now.
It is amazing how different your En Provence looks having used yardage. I love it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! I just bought the En Provence pattern, so I'm happy it turns out as gorgeous as yours did!
