WIPS: Uh Oh, A Whoops

The weather here has been beautiful the last couple of days. Warm, sunny and not too windy.  It's hard to stay in and sew when it's that nice, so I took a walk last night and was rewarded with this beauty as company.

A Tiger Swallowtail butterfly

Even with the walk there was some time to make a bit more  progress on The First Amendment Quilt.

The side borders are sewn on.  The top and bottom borders are ready to sew to the stars.  It wasn't till I was editing this photo that my "whoops" became clear.  The corner squares of the stars were supposed to be red, not the newsprint fabric.

So I'll have to remake the 4 corner square blocks.  The "whoops" stars will probably get used on the back.  At least I caught it before the stars were attached to the top and bottom borders.  It won't take long to get back on track.

  1. At least you were consistent in all 4 corners!

  2. Some days it's one step forward, two steps back... but soon it will be two steps forward and NO steps back!!!

  3. Hate when that happens! Using them on the back sounds like a good option. :)

  4. Darn it! At this point, you're probably not happy to have anything happen that slows you down. I can see why you want those corners to be red, though. Beautiful swallowtail photo!

  5. Nice catch! I usually see Whoops like that as I'm sewing on the binding!

  6. Well done on spotting it before it was all joined in. However, it would only have been you who knew it was 'wrong'!

  7. Good catch--both the photo and the oops!

  8. I have often been happy with my progress, UNTIL I see a photo, and those little 'wrong' things seem to stand out so clearly!
Glad you can correct it easily. I love your butterfly pic too. Thanks for linking up to 'sew stich snap SHARE'

  9. Probably wouldn't have noticed if you didn't say anything. But in looking at it again, it probably would be better with the red corners - completes the red stripes. Looking good though!

  10. Beautiful butterfly, I have never seen a white honeysuckle before (I'm assuming it is a honeysuckle), bet the perfume is delicious.
