Weekend Stitching: Too Much of a Good Thing?

The sewing room was pretty busy this weekend.  I took Friday off as a much needed sanity day, so managed three pretty solid days in the sewing room.  By yesterday evening, I will admit to being just about sewn out.  But it was a very productive weekend.  The binding got sewn to the front of Geometry.

A few stitches got taken on the back side as well.  So this graduation quilt is just about done.  There was lots of progress on the last graduation quilt as well.

The next to last set of borders are ready to go on.  The strips for the top and bottom borders are cut, but not sewn together yet.  So the First Amendment Quilt is getting close to being a finished flimsy. I always forget how long it takes to add on borders.  All the measuring and cutting involved takes up a lot of time.  Hopefully this one will be a finished top sometime this week.

I will be glad to see the last of the graduation quilts go off to Trudy for quilting.  Thankfully the end is in sight.

  1. Adding does take time! I love the newsprint fabric with the red and blue solids. It is going to be a striking quilt.

  4. Won't it be nice to go back to work today just to escape the sewing room! How nice to get so much accomplished though. I had a weekend like yours finishing up the Quiltmaker's Garden. Now, I'm actually looking forward to having a day just for housework.

  5. You're doing so well! One almost done, and one almost a flimsy!! I do tend to skip borders because I always feel like I should be nearly done and then am disappointed that I have so far to go!

  7. Great progress! I don't like all the measuring and fussing around with borders... it's one of the tasks I procrastinate!

  10. The First Amendment quilt is coming along beautifully. You'll have it to the flimsy stage by next weekend if you don't get busy doing other things.

  12. Sanity Days are essential for our well-being. Some of us get Sick Days but I have taken a Personal Wellness Day to do whatever the bleep my heart desired :-) Hope you enjoyed every minute of your sewing spree day :-)

  13. Your first amendment quilt is looking awesome! Ya know I sew almost every day and a lot of them are all day long. Sometimes I get sewn out and have to just leave the room, it doesn't happen too much but it's kinda scary when it happens, LOL It's wonderful you could just take a day to do what you wanted!

  14. Your First Amendment quilt is great looking. I understand about borders. They do take longer than anticipated. Both of your graduation quilts are wonderful. Isn't it nice to get a good stretch of sewing days and see the results of all your hard work. You have been very productive.
