Autumn is one of the nicest seasons in Oklahoma. Temperatures can be cold in the morning, but be in the 60's to 70's by afternoon. Spring seems to last only a week or two here at most, but Autumn will be around for a couple of months. Besides the moderate temps, if we've had rain, it can be really pretty this time of year as well.
The fall colors here vary from deep golden yellow/orange to brilliant reds. The color probably won't last much longer. We had our first hard freeze last week, followed by rain and now wind gusts up to 40 mph. There will be lots of bare trees after this weekend.
The cooler temps certainly didn't do much to cool down our schedules. This week was almost brutal, at home and at work. This next week should be more sedate (I hope!). Not much sewing happened this week. I either wasn't home or was just too tired to stitch on anything. It's a good thing we have weekends or else there wouldn't be anything to show for the stash report this week.
Used last week: 1.71 yards
Added last week : 0 yards
Used for 2013: 62.82 yards
Added for 2013: 235.83 yards
Net stashed for 2013: 173.01 yards
For the first time in weeks, nothing in. I've been madly deleting all the fabric shop emails in hopes of curbing temptation. It worked this week. On the positive side, all the piecing of recent weeks is starting to show up in finished blocks, which is the unit I use to count fabric as used. Over a yard and a half out this week, which is nice. All the 8.5" Log Cabin blocks for Back to Square One Clue 9 are complete. Those made up a lot of what got counted as going out this week.
The last NASCAR race of the 2013 season is this afternoon, so I'll be in my sewing room stitching away watching all those drivers go around in circles for a few hours. The nice thing about auto racing is you don't have to watch each mile, you can just check out how the pit stops go, any mishaps and the restarts after caution to catch the most exciting parts. That makes it easy to have your eyes on the sewing, but your ears tuned to the race.

I did the same thing, unsubscribed to quilt shop emails. It just makes me have the wants. I have plenty to play with I don't need to want more.
ReplyDeleteMy problem right now is I have been knitting and not quilting or sewing so I am behind on projects that are impatiently waiting. :)
It was a pretty fall in this part of Missouri this year. As you know it only lasts about a week here for full color. You and my dad would get along great as he loves nascar!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you... deleting the emails before the great deals suck me in! :) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteKate, beautiful colors in your posts. We hae some trees that are still sporting some colors too. But today we are getting the 40 mph winds, so we'll be bare real soon. Good going on not adding to your stash. As you suggested, I was able to add and take off quickly some of the Mo. Star purchases. Thanks for encouraging me.
ReplyDeleteGreat numbers. The fall colors want me to make another fall looking quilt.
ReplyDeleteIm great at deleting those emails that entice me to forget my budget ( I think I feel so guilty about all the unfinished stuff at the moment - that I cant buy new fabric !)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that its a good thing we have weekends. Nothing crafty happens here during the week anymore. Im exhausted after work.
LOVE your header and this gorgeous fall leaf shot~!!
ReplyDeletei'm jealous of your warm fall temps although i really can't complain as ours has been warmer than usual.
