Slow Stitching Sunday - August 11

Sunday started off cool and cloudy, which is definitely different than our typical August mornings.  I'm not complaining, everything is green when it's usually brown.  My Guy on the other hand isn't very appreciative that he has to mow for the second week in a row.  Usually in August it's too dry for the grass to grow much.  Northern Oklahoma has had a fair amount of rain this week and temps have been in the mid 90s.  We've been lucky, but southern Oklahoma and Texas still have horribly dry conditions.

Most of this week, I've been working on hand sewing labels to a few finish quilts.  First was the OSU quilt,

then the Evening Star quilt.

This afternoon I started attaching the label to Counting Stars

Just one more label left to stitch down.  That should get done before bed time tonight.

I'm linking up with this week's Slow Stitching Sunday over at Kathy's Quilts.  Take a break and check out all the posts there.

  1. hey Kathy~!
sounds like very satisfying stitching to do today. i always put off my label making/sewing and it feels so good once done.

i'm slow stitching my hexie project today. i haven't had it our for a while and had actually remembered it to be bigger than it is. apparently WIP's can shrink in storage~! LOL

  2. I enjoy sewing labels down. Probably because it's relaxing slow sewing and means you're finished !

  3. Blah - all the rain means my lawn is out of control, AND the guy I hired to mow kept putting me further down the schedule since I'm a one time, not a regular customer. Can't wait to close and let it be someone else's problem!

  4. I love the new heading, I also sewed labels onto two quilts. One I gave to my grandson last night and forgot to take a photo, I'll have to take one this week. I also finished an apron I had started a week ago. We have a few weeks till Spring, I'm looking forward to some warmer days. August is always very windy here, something I do not like. Have a wonderful week.

  5. This was a great post on adding labels...is it a blanket stitch you are making? Love how you made the stitches the size of the gingham...so sweet.
    Thanks for linking up!
