Stash Report - November 4, 2012

Hard to believe it's November already.  I'm not planning to give any quilts as gifts this year, so there is no pressure to be in the sewing room.  I've had to get an earlier start on some holiday stuff as My Guy has a new project that will keep him away from home for two weeks this month and at least one, maybe two weeks next month.  Hopefully getting an early start will allow me to fit in all the holiday stuff and manage to find time for the sewing room.

This week's stash report is better than last week's, but not by much.

Used last week: 0.73 yards
Added last week: 0 yards

Used for 2012: 36.45 yards
Added for 2012: 319.88 yards

Net stashed for 2012:  283.43 yards

My goal for the year was to use 75 yards of fabric.  I'm probably not going to make that goal.  In looking back at the last couple of years I finished a lot of quilts as part of my focus on getting quilts off the UFO list.  Of course I did the "more complete" ones first.  What was left on the list this year were the ones that only had one or two blocks completed.  So they were almost like starting from scratch.  I've started seven new quilts this year, but none of those got done either.  Backings are the fastest way to use up yardage and I've just not needed to make that many this year.  Hopefully all the quilts I started this year will help make next year a better one in terms of fabric usage.

  1. You know, I'm not sure I even had a goal in mind when I started this project this year. Except for to stay faithful to keeping track, which I've done. Now that was a smart goal to set! LOL!! I've enjoyed keeping up with everyone's stash this year! Have a great week, Kate!!! :)

  2. I didn't set any fabric use goals this year because I did so dismally last year at NOT buying fabric.

  3. Just think - if you buy ahead this year, next year's report will look great as you tackle the UFOs and add in the backings! ;)

  4. You are over halfway to your goal of using 75 yards. I am not close to my goals in either, but I still have several quilts I want to finish this year. Maybe we were too ambitious in setting our goals. (smile)

  5. At least you're being realistic about it!

  6. It's always good to have goals; something to work toward.
