How was your Easter? Ours was pretty relaxing. There was a lot of hanging out with family, a nice long walk along the back country roads, good food, and just a little bit of sewing. A good time was had by all, even though this is the first year in the more than 20 I've been included in My Guy's family gathering that we didn't do an Easter egg hunt. Drama Teen was the youngest one there this year. My Mother-In-Law made a very brief bid to get the youngest few to hunt eggs, unfortunately the 13, 14, and 15 year olds would have nothing to do with the idea. The idea to bribe them with chocolate didn't work very well since two of the aunts had already given them a giant chocolate rabbit and a good size chocolate egg. Everyone did give the kite flying a go, but there was no wind. Still it was a good excuse to stand out in the sun and just enjoy the nice weather.
With all the Easter excitement going on, I forgot to get a picture of what's up on the main design wall. To be honest, there's not much change on the design wall from last week. I did pull out my Grandmother's Flower Garden blocks to stitch on while we were all visiting yesterday evening.
This is block 11. Looking back, I'm not making a lot of progress on this project. I was partially finished with block 10 the last time this project was covered in a post (here) from last July. Not that I'm in a hurry to finish this project, my goal is to have it done by the time DT goes off to college, so I still have about 5 years. Plenty of time.
That's it for my design wall. I'm linking up with Judy over at Patchwork Times and hope to have some time this morning to see what's going on with other design walls.
Hi Kate! We had a lovely Easter, too! It was a gorgeous day and filled with family ... it doesn't get much better than that! Your GFG block is lovely -- nice color/fabric combinations! :)
ReplyDeleteHexies have been my take-along project for about five years. The amount I get done is directly proportional to the hours of meetings I attend. Sometimes "slow but sure" is a good thing!
ReplyDeleteTeens are far too cool to engage in egg hunts. I remember when my oldest got too cool to trick or treat, but it was obvious that he wanted to.
ReplyDeletePretty hexagons. Love those hand projects to take along. We kept the kids happy with easter egg hunts well in to college by putting money in some of the eggs. It's amazing what a motivator that is :-)
ReplyDeleteMy Easter was lovely. With my family. Love your hexies, the fabric is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWe had a very nice Easter, and weekend, lots of gatherings (four!), so today I'm just relaxing and doing nothing other than catching up on emails and such. I love the GFG! Very pretty fabrics! I quilted a huge one for a customer not long ago, she said hers took her a long time, too. I think they are meant to be that way! lol
ReplyDeletePaper piecing is so in down here. Going to do a class with sue Daley (the guru) later this year, it is very portable
ReplyDeleteI have been working on one for about 10 years now. Maybe one day.....
ReplyDeleteI am just getting my last of three drama teens out of the house. I know how that goes :)
Hexies are looking great!
ReplyDeleteMy Dd had a solo Easter egg hunt every year including the first two years of her marriage when she was almost 24 years old. In 2011 and 2012 Older Grandson had a solo Easter Egg Hunt but I'm sure he'll be joined by Younger Grandson next year!
