15 Minute Challenge - March 6th

Today is the 66th day of 2012.  How are you doing at finding 15 minutes a day to sew?   Since the beginning of the year, I've met the challenge of finding at least 15 minutes to sew 49 days.  Not bad, that's about a 75% success rate.  It doesn't seem like much, but all that time adds up.

Is finding 15 minutes a day to sew/craft a habit for you yet?  The 66 day mark is the average amount of time it takes most people to form a habit.  I've been doing it for a year and as I said last week I always think about finding my 15 minutes, I don't always follow through and do it. This week I did well, 6 days out of 7 finding some time to play with fabric (and I didn't even have to count my fabric shopping from Saturday).

I'm putting the borders on the purple and yellow quilt.  I started to add a light puple border and realized after I got the two vertical borders on, that it wasn't going to work.  So I did a lot of unsewing this week.

Now on to the important stuff.  Who won the last 15 Minute Challenge Give away?

#4 Libby Q of Paper Napkin Poetry

Libby's fairly new to the challenge, joing earlier this year.  In addition to a lovely hexie project she's got going on, she makes the cutest covered buttons.  She starts every post with a beautiful photograph, mainly flowers the last month.  If you haven't checked out her blog, go take a peak.

It's been a productive year with the 15 Minute Challenge for me.  I hope it has been for you too.  Special thanks to Amanda, Kate, Liz, Marti, Pat, Shay and Thea for linking up most every week since just about the beginning and for all the inspiration and support over the last year.  For those who've just started the 15 Minute Challenge, I hope you'll find it fun and productive.

So link up and share how well you did in getting some "me time" at the machine over the last week.

  6. I scheduled my post for this morning just in case I didn't have time.. which i didn't for a post but it is ok for a comment. Thanks for hosting the 15 minute challenge it makes me do something on most days which is now a habit. Like you I have days when all I do is think about doing it but that means that it is a habit and it is a habit I can quickly get on track with, unlike walking in the morning which now that it is dark and a bit cool I don't seem to be able to do.

  8. Sounds like you got your mojo back. Your new blog header and colors are very striking! By the way, that was a pretty impressive shopping trip you had.

  10. I am trying to motivate all people for the 15 minute challenge for the month of March, calling it a March A Long. I even got Seamed Up to talk about it on one of their blog posts, & twitter. I tried to be cute on my link, but really it's not much to sew.
I also one-two posts before this, put your 15 minute button on my blog post. Hope this helps get people excited to sew for 15.

  11. Congratulations to Libby! I don't think it has become a habit for me yet, but I'm working on it. I love your header -- it is new, isn't it?

Thanks again for the challenge; on days when I may not want to sew, I frequently end up sewing just to be able to say I put in my 15 minutes..
