Design Wall Monday - July 11th

Is it Monday already?  We had a busy and tiring weekend.  Kiddo's swim team hosted a swim meet at our local outdoor 50 meter pool.  It was hot, 110 F yesterday.  After spending a day as the meet Safety Marshall walking on that concrete pool deck most of the day, I'm actually thankful to be going back to work in the air conditioning.

Not much activity on the design wall this weekend due to the meet, but I did lay out and start stitching on the next 2 blocks for the purple and yellow scrap quilt.

Since finishing up the Buck-A-Block top, I've decided to work on two other projects.  Both need fabric cut before I can do much sewing.

The Geisha quilt is for my niece.  I still have a lot of 5.5 inch squares to cut before I'll be able to start sewing.

The second is a Christmas quilt along that Mrs. Pyjamas, Mrs. Seams Inspired, and Little Miss Sunshine have started up using Kate Spain's Flurry pattern.  You can check out the info here.  Still more fabric chopping to finish up here as well before I get to the fun part.

  3. I'm taking your idea of laying out the next blocks for the leader ender, Kate! That works better for me than just randomly grabbing pieces.

The quilt along sounds fun. I just may have to pull some of my many Christmas fabrics and download the pattern too!

  5. I love the Giesha quilt fabrics...cant wait to see how that quilt develops.

I;m still chopping fabrics for the Christmas quilt although I have done some sewing so there's plenty of time for you to catch up.

Looks like masses of creativity is going on a casa de Kate.

  8. I love the snowmen, Kate! ☺

I stitched up the 'boxes' Sunday, and I got all my cutting for the Flurry quilt finished yesterday. Totally shirked my Mom duties and let the kids play video games and watch TV all afternoon. GASP! ☺

So glad to know you're making up this quilt too. I'll be working on the bows and giftbox tops today...I hope. Happy Tuesday! ☺
