The pieced borders for Rhododendron (Bonnie Hunter 2021 mystery) are finally all attached. I'm happy with how they worked out. The plan was for two more simple borders, but I'm now thinking maybe just one. I need to play in EQ and try out some options.
Any decisions will wait till after the holiday. I'm trying to keep up with this year's mystery, so Rhododendron is going into time out for a few weeks. For the next week or so, I'll turn my attention to Melodic Mystery (Meadow Mist Designs) which just needs to be bound. Since that would be a nice handwork project to work on while visiting over the holiday, I'm going to focus on making progress there.
The binding is made it just needs to be sewn to the front. Then I can spend the holiday week doing the hand stitching to the back. So I should have one more finish before the end of the year.
Linking up with Design Wall Monday and Patchwork & Quilts. Next Monday is Christmas! I'm definitely not ready for that yet. Have a great week, wishing you lots of fun with family this week and next.
Your fabric choices on Rhododendron are what makes it a stand out for me! Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas! :)
ReplyDeleteRhododendron looks great! I love the way you made the corners for the yellow and white border. Have fun getting your binding ready to stitch! That's what I'm hoping to do this week, too.
ReplyDeleteWhere did the year go? It's hard to believe Christmas is only a week away. Rhododendron looks great, congratulations on getting the pieced borders finished. I hope you have fun working on finishing Melodic Mystery in the next few weeks.
ReplyDeleteYour border is very clever, and looks perfect. Letting a project marinate awhile before making that final border decision can be an excellent plan.
ReplyDeleteI love your new border, very pretty! Love the corners too.
ReplyDeleteFun and clever way to store the binding before attaching it!
Thank you for sharing!
Rhododendron is a very striking quilt! You chose a wonderful color palette for it.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is gorgeous. I like it just the way it is. Unless you want to make it larger, it doesn’t need anything else.
ReplyDeleteYou are staying busy right to the very end, Kate. Rhododendron is stunning! I can not wait to see what you decide on the 2nd border. Enjoy your week and Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteYour version of Rhododendron Trail is beautiful, and I love the way you changed the border design. Looking forward to seeing another finish soon!
ReplyDeleteOh wow - that is a gorgeous design wall!!! Love the colors and those borders just make the whole thing sing!
ReplyDeleteWow, that border looks so good! Hand stitching is a good idea for the week ahead, I have a couple things pulled but not started that I hope to get prepped by the weekend.
