It's been a weird week. It's amazing what can pop up that derails your day and consequently any stitching plans you might have had. My stitching week is also short a few days this week due to the planned meet up with Grad Girl this weekend. All of that to say I didn't get as far as I'd hoped on the first prompt for the Stay at Home Round Robin. But there was some progress.
First step was to add coping steps to bring the center up to 12" by 18".
The math works out to 3" finished spool blocks. Assembling all those 1.5" HSTS takes time, so does trimming. But I did get far enough to make almost enough blocks for one border.
The corner blocks are modified spool blocks. Those were constructed first to ensure I got all the HSTS turned the right direction. Here's the plan drafted in EQ.
So I'll have to play catch up next week. Most of the HSTS are made so block assembly should go much faster.
Linking up with Home Sewn by Us for the SAHRR Prompt #1.
love those birdds
ReplyDeleteWell, that is super cute so far. I’m going to enjoy watching as this comes together.
ReplyDeleteI love the look that your spool blocks give to the center birds - they frame the center so perfectly! Pretty colors, too. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Kate! I've been looking forward to seeing what you had planned all week and you did not disappoint. You know, this looks to me like these sweet birdies are sitting amongst a lilac bush in full bloom. Isn't that a nice thought on a very snowy weekend (here, anyway)?! It may just turn out to your advantage that you were slightly derailed this week, depending on how you want to interpret the next prompt! Happy Friday to you. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteThat's a really clever border, and the color placement works so well. Great start!
ReplyDeleteFun play on the block design by making the center of the spool the background color. Enjoy your girls weekend!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing all the interpretations of the border, and your twist is really clever! Enjoy your time with Grad Girl!
ReplyDeleteWell aren’t you a smart cookie! The spool block is completely disguised and I love the picot effect this border gives. Also one can never go wrong with blue, purple and green!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice round 1, Kate. Dont you just LOVE EQ ! I can't do without it.
ReplyDeleteThese little robin blocks are so cute :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great twist on the spool blocks by changing the color placement! It gives a totally different look to the blocks. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo adorable. Your spool blocks are incognito (so cool)!
