It was a stay at home and not do much kind of weekend. The wind was so cold, so it wasn't a hardship to just stay home. I'm not looking forward to next weekend, the forecast is for really cold temperatures. I know we won't be as cold as those of you to the north, but -7 F is cold no matter where you live!
The sewing room has seen a fair amount of activity, but there's not really much to show. I've mostly been working on the Meadow Mist Designs and Bonny Hunter mysteries, so most of what's going on at the sewing machine is small subunits.
This is what the pile of bits and pieces looked like after my last chain piecing session. The orange bits and strip pieces are for Chilhowie, the pink bits are for Melodic and the purple/white block on the bottom is for Rhododendron.
The only thing I have up on the design wall is the blocks for the Melodic Mysteries December clue.
I finished all the quarter blocks, but am still working on the flower blocks. I'm hoping to be caught up on all the clues when the January clue comes out in a couple of weeks. The rest of my design walls are empty. Once we start making blocks out for the Chilhowie mystery, there will be more to look at.
Linking up with the Monday Design Wall and Patchwork & Quilts linky parties this week. Enjoy your holiday preparations and family time this week.
We've had the wind, too, and expecting the sub-zero temps later in the week. Ugh! I guess it's good sewing weather, though. Love seeing the small units you're working on all in a pile there! Out of those will come beautiful quilts!
ReplyDeleteI hear you Kate on the cold weather - I'm not looking forward to the weather from Thursday to Saturday will be near 0 for us Thursday night and that is unusual for sure - keep warm!
ReplyDeleteThe photo of the pile of mystery parts was fun to see!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a relaxing week and can enjoy sewing more parts!
Any temp below zero is cold, cold, cold. Overnight low here last night was -6. It's currently -1 with sunshine. Yay! But we have a forecast of highs below zero mid-week. I guess it's a normal winter around here finally.
ReplyDeleteYour mysteries are coming along!!! and right? that wind was just BRUTAL!! I hope yours has died down now... get ready for cold... ugh
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a cold Christmas across the country! Even Florida will have below-normal temperatures. Good excuse to stay inside and quilt.
ReplyDelete-7 F is very cold! I hope that everyone stays warm and cozy. Choosing to spend the time inside and working on quilts makes a lot of sense to me.
ReplyDeletePerfect weather to sew ;) That's quite a lot of blocks from the chain piecing, well done! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBrrrrrrr…that is cold. We keep getting forecast cold weather, and then it really doesn’t arrive. Your pieces remind me of a block I started yesterday. It got more fiddly than my patience would allow, and so I stopped for the day. I’ll go back to it with renewed patience today.
ReplyDeleteThat wind chill is brutal isn't it. It was 8 here this morning in north Texas and has climbed to a whopping 9! Have a Merry Christmas!
