To Do Tuesday for Week of 3/8/2022

Last week was one of the least fun weeks I've had in a long time.  Two people in my group announced they are leaving due to spouse relocations. We are under a hiring freeze right now, so you can see where that's going.   If you read my Sunday post you know My Guy had a nasty bicycle accident Saturday morning. He's doing OK, but boy does he look beat up.  He was released from the hospital late Sunday afternoon, but we were back at the doctor's office yesterday since he developed a fever overnight. He will heal, but for the moment he is still sore and uncomfortable.

I did make some progress on my To Do List from last week.

  • Potions: Finish borders, backing, start prepping quilt - progress
  • Macaron Mystery: Work on blocks ✔
  • Rhododendron Mystery: Work on blocks ✔
  • Unity: Make flying geese as leader/enders ✔

Three out of four isn't bad for such a screwed up week. I'm hoping for a much calmer week this week.  My To Do list won't look much different, but hopefully I'll make more progress this week.

Potions: Cut and piece backing, start clean-up for quilting

I did manage to wash and press the backing fabric. So once I figure out the cutting and piecing part, I'll be able to get moving on the backing.

Macaron Mystery: Continue making blocks

Rhododendron Mystery: Continue make B blocks

Unity: Continue making flying geese as leaders and enders.

I'm off most of next week, so I'm hoping to get in some good stitching time this weekend and most of next week. Linking up with Linda at Texas Quilt Gal for To Do Tuesday.

  1. I hope your husband is doing better today - developing a fever after surgery doesn't sound good - and then loosing people at work too - you will be so busy

The backing fabric for Potions is perfect.

  3. Your poor husband! I sure hope it recovers quickly. Biking spills are no fun. And ugh on the issues at your work. I hope you get some good sewing time in on your time off.
Thanks for linking up with To Do Tuesday!

  5. You made great progress for all the distractions that came up. I'm with everyone else: I hope he is feeling better and soon he'll be up and about as usual. I'm assuming the bike was man powered not a motor bike of some sort? It seems to me that 2 employees in the same group might be enough to get a waiver on the no hiring mandate. You picked the perfect time to be off (unless you made the arrangements after the squirrel disaster.) I hope you get some serious sewing time this week. It sounds like you need a couple of good hugs -- I'm sending virtual hugs your way.

  6. Good grief. I hadn’t read your post from Sunday…I spent the day unpacking. I’m so sorry to hear about your guy. Good grief. Tell him he has my sympathy. It was a wooly caterpillar that caused my fall. Those furry critters! Best wishes for a speedy recovery, and best wishes that this week will improve over last!

  7. What a week for you two. I hope your guy keeps feeling better each day. I'll bet you're really looking forward to that week off! That backing fabric for Potions is just so perfect - wishing you good progress on getting it ready to go.

  9. A dreadful week for you. Hoping your husband is healing with each new day. Three out of four is great considering the week you've had. The backing fabric for Potions couldn't be more perfect! Take care.

  10. I can't even imagine how miserable your husband must feel as he heals. And staff shortages seem to be a story of the week. My husband's company is hiring, but the quality of applicants is dreadful. Why do people apply for jobs they are clearly totally unqualified for? Or state in their application that they won't do any overnight travel when the job description says there is travel involved.

  11. Cabins and Fans is one of the most beautiful quilts I've seen in ages! It's just stunning! Great progress on each of the other projects too.

  12. Oh no! Glad Your Guy is doing ok, but that sounds scary and stressful. Here's hoping your life is less eventful this week.

  13. I am so behind on reading blogs - ack! Bicycle accident? I’m so relieved he’s going to heal well, but I can imagine how worrying that was while waiting for scans, etc. I hope you are able to rest at some point, despite the added burden of staff leaving (ack! again).

  14. Oh gosh, Kate - sorry to hear about the staffing shortages at work and the complications with your husband’s recovery - thinking of you and hoping that you are able to take some time for yourself in the midst of all this!
